Trail Running Calendar Wales 2026-2027

A timed, multi lap run at Parc Taf Bargoed using a 5.3 km out and back lap. Distances range from 5 km to ultra with a seven hour limit and a medal or no medal entry option.

A 5.8 km fell race to the summit of Pen y Fan near Brecon with 588 m of ascent, part of the South Wales Series and the 2026 UKA Fell Running Championship; entries are limited and minimum age is over 16.

A fell race at Plas Dolben near Llangynhafal covering about 8 km with 457 m of climb on a partially marked course. There is a 50 minute cut-off at the top gate, entry on the day is £5 and minimum age is over 16.

A multi-distance trek and trail event on the Gower Peninsula based at Penrice Castle, offering camping, GPS-tracked routes, covered rest stops, catering, medical support, and finisher rewards across several distances.

Trail races on the private Merthyr Mawr Estate within Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve, featuring a 12K course and a new 40K route that extends along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

A guided crossing of all Welsh 3000 ft peaks in Snowdonia, covering about 50 km and 4000 m ascent. Available as a 20 hour challenge or across two to three days, with qualified leaders, low guide ratios and on-route support.

Three coastal ultras on the Wales Coast Path converging at Cardiff Bay’s Norwegian Church, featuring beaches, dunes, forest singletrack, marked routes, checkpoints and live GPS tracking.

A mountain running event on 18 July 2026 covering 15.35 km with 994 m ascent. Entrants must be 18 or older and have mountain running experience.

A Trail 10k at Llys y Fran Lake with varied terrain, lakeside and woodland sections, chip timing and a finisher's medal. The race is the second event in the 2026 RTT Series and includes marked routes and water stations.

A three day guided traverse of the Paddy Buckley Round in northern Snowdonia, covering 47 peaks over just over 100 km with about 9,000 m of ascent. Small groups return to Capel Curig each day and receive guided support and a vehicle.

A short fell race of 5.54 km with 315 m of ascent, run on a partially marked route that requires navigational skill and prior fell-running experience. Entry on the night costs £3 and the event is insured by the WFRA.

A 100 km self navigation ultramarathon across the Brecon Beacons with 3178 m of ascent, following the Beacons Way. Entrants must meet qualifying criteria including prior 50 mile ultramarathon experience and map and compass skills, places ar..

A 100 mile self navigated ultramarathon across the Brecon Beacons with 6143 m of ascent, 10 checkpoints, live GPS tracking and mandatory mountain navigation skills. Entrants must meet qualifying criteria and carry specified safety kit.

Multi-distance trail running in the Brecon Beacons near Abergavenny on 25 to 26 July 2026, with routes from 12 km to 110 km and UTMB Index race status for key categories.

A Britney themed 7 hour Time Challenge at Dare Valley Country Park offering distances from 3 km up to ultra and 50 km. Aid tables, medals and goody bags are provided, with free parking, toilets and a cafe on site.

A 9.3 km fell race near Cwm, Ebbw Vale with 549 m of climb on moorland and a partly waymarked anticlockwise loop. Basic navigation and mountain skills are useful; the event is part of the South Wales Series.

Trail runs on 26 July 2026 from Storey Arms to the Pen Y Fan summit, offered over 5 miles or 13 miles with chip timing, marshalled routes and specified mandatory kit for each distance.

A 6.4 km fell race near Llangollen with 289 m of climb and partial course marking. Entry on the day only for £5 and there are no toilet facilities because the café is closed.

A short, steep fell race on 29 July 2026 in Middletown covering 2.8 km with about 440 m of ascent. Pre-entry and on-the-day entry are offered and junior races are included in the summer series.

A *50 miles* loop around the Epynt Way on August 1st 2026, starting and finishing at Noyadd Farm Camping near Builth Wells. Mostly trail terrain with 8,559 ft of elevation, four staffed checkpoints and no formal time limit.
