Format, rules and facilities
The race uses a loop of approximately 4.2 miles that is split roughly 50/50 between trail and tarmac. The course includes one gradual climb and a short steep section; the remainder is relatively flat. Medals are awarded to anyone who reaches 32 miles. The event is open-ended; the winner is the last person to complete a loop and results list distance covered. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count. Common aid stations are allowed and one aid station is located at HQ; personal aid during a loop is not permitted. Supporter rules include no supporters in the starting corral and no phone calls to or from runners on the course except in an emergency. Onsite facilities include medics, showers and toilets.
