Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr Backyard Ultra
The Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr Backyard Ultra is a structured endurance event taking place in Crickhowell, deep in the Black Mountains. The race follows a standard backyard ultra format for the majority of the duration, utilizing a 4.167 mile loop. The course terrain is a 50/50 split between trail and tarmac surfaces. Most of the route consists of relatively flat terrain, featuring one gradual climb and a short steep section.
Participants must be in the starting corral before the bell sounds. Each new loop begins precisely one hour after the previous start. Runners are disqualified if they do not complete a loop within the one-hour window or if they are not present in the starting corral at the beginning of a lap. Trekking poles and other artificial aids are not permitted on the course.

The event has a maximum duration of 12 hours. The first eleven laps follow the timed format where completion within the hour is required. The twelfth and final lap is run as a standard race, where the first person to cross the finish line is declared the winner. The site at headquarters includes facilities such as showers, toilets, and medics.
