Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr BYU 2026

Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr BYU is a backyard ultra held near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains. The event uses a repeating 4.167 mile loop that is roughly half trail and half tarmac. The course has one gradual climb and a short steep section; the remainder is relatively flat terrain.

The format follows the backyard ultra rules: each of the first eleven yards must be completed within an hour and the twelfth yard is a timed race to determine the winner. The event has a total cap of 12 hours. Timing will be available and results will list distance covered for each competitor.

Participants receive a medal for completing a yard, plus a special medal for reaching 32 miles. Food and drink are provided on course, with additional hot food available after the fifth yard. Support facilities include medics on site, showers and toilets, photographers during daytime with images free to download after the event, and parking at headquarters for a fee.

Entries open on Monday 22 September 2025 and close on Thursday 17 September 2026. Minimum age to enter is 17 and the entry fee is £75. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
