Phoenix Running South Wales stages "Alice in Runderland" on Saturday 12 September 2026 at Rock UK Summit Centre, The Old Drift Mine, Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil, CF46 6RD. The event is a timed, multi-lap run where participants may choose how far to go, from one lap upward. Places are strictly limited. Welsh Athletics race licence has been applied for. Distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under under UK Athletics rules.

Course and format

The course is an out-and-back loop through Parc Taf Bargoed. The majority of the route is on tarmac paths with approximately 0.5 miles on riverside trail. Each lap has about 37 m elevation gain and loss, making the route relatively flat. The minimum entry distance is one lap (3.28 miles). Participants may complete as many laps as they wish within a 7-hour time limit. The event accepts runners and walkers and uses flexible "rock up and run" start times; special start time requests may be accommodated depending on planned distance.

Entry and services

Entry fees listed are £33 (affiliated) and £35 (unaffiliated), with a trial no-medal entry option from £20. All entrants receive Phoenix support, an aid station, same-day results, athlete profiles, digital BIBs and digital finishers certificates; finishers receive a bespoke medal unless on a no-medal entry. Trail runs nearby

Trail races based in Brecon with circular routes through Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Options are 100 km, 75 km and marathon distances with marked junctions, multiple checkpoints, a compulsory kit list and GPS route files.

A Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course at Coopers Field, Bute Park on 02 May 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide to raise funds for cancer research. The event has a £50 minimum fundraising target and is for ages 13 and over.

Cwmdu is a 15.9 km fell race near Crickhowell with 920 m of climb over Pen Tir and Mynydd Troed. The route requires navigation and mandatory kit; entry fees include tea and cakes.

The Sirhowy Challenge is a 10 mile multi-terrain race featuring a 1,500ft climb to Machen Trig Point. Participants enjoy a scenic loop through the Sirhowy valley with awards and a finishers social at the local club.
