The Brutal Extreme Triathlons are multi-distance triathlon events held in Llanberis, with swimming in Llyn Padarn and mountain running on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) via the Llanberis Path. The event offers options as solo or relay teams of 2 to 4 members.

Distances available:

  • Half (Canol): 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles bike, 5 mile lake lap then mountain
  • Full (Mawr): 2.4 miles swim, 112 miles bike, 15 miles lake laps then mountain
  • Double and Triple: multiple laps of the same 28 mile bike, 1.25 km swim lap and 5 mile lake lap formats apply

Course notes describe a 1.25 km swim lap in Parc Padarn, a 28 mile bike lap on open roads including a climb over Pen y Pass, and a 5 mile lake lap with trails, rocks and a waterfall. The mountain section is approximately 9 miles round trip on a clear path. Water temperature is typically 16–18°C.

Aid stations are placed on the bike, on the run and at HQ and provide sports nutrition and snacks. Support crews are required for Double and Triple entries; they must attend the briefing and follow rules for safe support on the road and mountain sections. Mandatory kit lists are specified for athletes and for support crews. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each race. Experience the Ogwen valley through this skyrunning event in Eryri. Choose between 10km, 25km, and 40km routes featuring technical mountain terrain and alpine peaks starting from the National Outdoor Centre.

An 8.6 mile multi terrain race around Trawsfynydd lake in Snowdonia, chip timed and limited to 400 runners. Proceeds support the volunteer South Snowdonia Search and Rescue team; open to athletes aged 17 and over.

Experience an epic guided traverse of the fifteen 3000 foot peaks in Snowdonia. This 48 km mountain run includes 4000 meters of elevation gain across three iconic ranges with full support and logistics provided.

A guided recce of the Paddy Buckley leg from Capel Curig to Nantmor across the Moelwyns, covering 35 km with 2,500 m of ascent on 3 May 2026. Small groups led by Mountain Leader qualified guides; entry fee £95 and minimum age 18.
