Gladstone 9 Fell Race

The event is scheduled for Sunday 30th August and Race HQ is at The Gladstone, Ysguborwen Road, Dwygyfylchi, Penmaenmawr LL34 6PS. Parking at the venue is limited so competitors are asked to car share where possible and not to use the pub carpark.

The course is 9 miles with approximately 2,800 ft of ascent and visits the summits of Tal y Fan and Moel Lus. There are five checkpoints, all of which must be visited in order.

Registration takes place at Race HQ before the start and includes collection of a race bag. There is a 5 minute walk to the start. Entry is limited to 100 competitors. Online entries open 1/6/26; standard entry is £7 for WFRA members with a £2 supplement for non members, and a small number of entry on the day places will be available at an increased fee of £11. RaceTek electronic timing is provided. Competitors receive a non waterproof race map and post race refreshments including soup and a roll.

Minimum age is 18 on race day; experienced 16 year olds may be considered after discussion with the race organiser. There is a cut off of 1 hour 30 minutes at CP2 before the climb up Tal y Fan. Mountain experience and navigation skills are required. Safety pins are not provided and mandatory kit and safety requirements are listed in the Welsh Fell Runners Association policies and forms. There will be a prize presentation with age category prizes sourced locally and separate awards for the first male and first female local runners. Trail runs nearby

A fell race at Plas Dolben near Llangynhafal covering about 8 km with 457 m of climb on a partially marked course. There is a 50 minute cut-off at the top gate, entry on the day is £5 and minimum age is over 16.

A guided traverse of the 14 Welsh 3000 foot peaks covering about 50 km and roughly 4,000 m of ascent, offered as a continuous 20 hour challenge or over two to three days with low ratio guiding and on-route support.

A mountain running event on 18 July 2026 covering 15.35 km with 994 m ascent. Entrants must be 18 or older and have mountain running experience.

A guided trail run at Bwlch Penbarras on 19 July 2026 covering about 7 km. The route follows Offas Dyke past Foel Fenlli and returns around Fron Hen with views over Bryn Alyn, run at a steady pace with regrouping stops.
