Welsh 3000 Challenge (14 Peaks) - Pen y Pass, Capel Curig
The Welsh 3000 Challenge (14 Peaks) is a guided mountain traverse that covers all the peaks in Snowdonia officially recognised as over 3000 ft in a continuous route. The event date listed is Saturday 18 July 2026 with a single-day 20 hour option and a 2 day option (18–19 July 2026). The listed start location is Pen y Pass, Capel Curig.
The route includes summiting Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and sections such as the knife-edged ridge of Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan, before reaching the Carneddau range. Total distance is stated as about 50 km with a height gain close to 4000 m. Some sections involve exposed scrambling; Crib Goch will only be traversed in good weather and can be avoided if preferred. Previous hill walking experience is recommended.
Guiding is by qualified Mountain Leaders and Mountaineering Instructors with a low staff to participant ratio (1:4). Two pace options are offered: a guided run that jogs easy sections and walks the rest, and a walk option aiming to complete the route inside 20 hours or across two days. Included support elements noted are food and drink at three key locations, a following support team, and transport back to the start. Entry fees and dates are published for the two formats and places are limited due to terrain and supervision requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
