Event overview

The Welsh 3000 Challenge (14 Peaks) is a guided mountain running and walking event on Saturday 18 July 2026, based at Pen Y Pass, Capel Curig. The organiser offers two formats: a 20-hour guided challenge and a 2-day guided option. Entries open on Wednesday 30 July 2025 and close on Sunday 12 July 2026. Entry fees are listed as 20-hour challenge - £299 and 2-day challenge - £399, with an instalment option splitting payment into two 50% instalments.

Course and support

The route aims to climb all 14 peaks recognised as over 3000 ft in Snowdonia, with a total distance of about 50 km and height gain close to 4000 m. The itinerary can include additional neighbouring summits. One exposed section, the Crib Goch ridge, is only attempted in good weather and can be avoided on request. The event offers two pace options - run and walk - and uses a low guide-to-participant ratio (1:4) with qualified mountain leaders and instructors. Participants receive food and drink at three key locations, support from a following team, and transport back to the start. A list of the principal peaks and their elevations in metres is provided by the organiser, including Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) 1085 m, Glyder Fawr 1000 m, Carnedd Llewelyn 1064 m and others.
