Yr Wyddfa Ultra 100
The Yr Wyddfa Ultra 100 is a 102 mile self-navigation ultramarathon across Snowdonia Eryri National Park with 5,172 m of ascent. The event is limited to 150 places and has an overall cut off of 42 hours. Live GPS tracking is provided by GB Race Tracker.
The route leaves Betws-y-Coed and heads to Beddgelert via the Snowdonia Slate Trail, then through the Nant Gwynant Valley passing Sygun Copper Mine, Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant. High level and low level GPX files are available for the race route and a low level alternative may be used in severe weather. The start and finish venue is Cae Llan, Village Green, Station Road, Betws-y-Coed.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health, able to self navigate with map and compass, and must have previously completed an organised 50 mile ultramarathon under race conditions. The event enforces checkpoint cut offs; participants must visit all 11 checkpoints and have their details recorded or face disqualification.
Checkpoints are supported with refreshments including vegetarian and vegan options, hot food at indoor venues, and medical or first responder cover. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times. Key mandatory items include a hardcopy OS map, baseplate compass, waterproof coat with sealed seams, two long sleeve base layers, minimum 1 litre water capacity, charged mobile in a waterproof bag, survival or bivi bag, headtorch 75 lumens minimum, backup light 25 lumens minimum, emergency rations 500 calories minimum, whistle, waterproof trousers, gloves and warm hat. A GPS tracker is provided at registration.
Pacers are permitted from the halfway point at Checkpoint 6; only one pacer at a time is allowed and they must be self sufficient and carry mandatory kit.
