The Brutal Extreme Triathlon
The Brutal Extreme Triathlon takes place on September 18th 2027 in Llanberis, North Wales, centred on Llyn Padarn. Events are offered as solo entries or as relay teams of two to four members.
Distances available include:
- Brutal Bach: 0.6 mile swim, 29.9 mile bike, run up and down Yr Wyddfa.
- Canol Half: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 5 mile lake lap then Yr Wyddfa.
- Mawr Full: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 15 mile lake laps then Yr Wyddfa.
- Cawr Double: ultra distance option, solo or team entries of 2 to 4 members.
The swim takes place in Llyn Padarn near race headquarters, completed as laps with an exit every two laps. Water temperatures are likely around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. The bike is on open roads using a 28 mile lap with steep climbs including Pen y Pass and fast descents; weather can vary across the route. The lake lap is on trails with hills, rocks and a waterfall; the mountain section follows the Llanberis Path to Yr Wyddfa and is an up and down route of about nine miles.
Support crews are required for the Double and must not follow directly behind athletes on the bike, instead using lay-bys or car parks; they must stay close on the mountain. Athletes must carry mandatory kit items and follow race rules such as wearing a hi vis vest on the bike, wearing a helmet, no drafting and no use of MP3 players. Trophies are awarded to first, second and third male and female finishers in each race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
