Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2026-2027

With 207 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2026-2027 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

A 28 mile, sea to summit ultramarathon on Ben Nevis with about 6000 ft of ascent, a mainly trail route from Loch Linnhe to the Nevis Range, fully waymarked and supported with safety teams and pit stops.

A point to point trail of about 10 km from Archiestown Village Square to Cardhu Distillery on 11 October 2026, with shuttle transport, water stations, first aid and prizes for overall and veteran categories.

An annual charity trail 10 km at Eglinton Park in Ayrshire on 11 October 2026, supporting Release Ayrshire for World Mental Health Day. The course is fully marked with marshals, and finishers receive bling and donated home baking.

A Speyside running event offering marathon, half-marathon, 10 km and a four person relay along the Speyside Way, with distilleries on the route and whisky miniatures available at the finish.

An eight hour loop challenge at Tentsmuir Forest of 4.366 mile laps tracked by wrist timing tags; laps count toward half, full or ultra distances and Basecamp offers kit storage and race support.

A hill race from Alva Glen through the Ochils covering 14.6 km with 966 m of climb, visiting summit checkpoints including Ben Cleuch and The Nebit. Registration is at Alva Scout Hall and basic facilities and prize categories are provided.

Experience a 38 mile ultramarathon or team relay through the scenic landscape of Jedburgh. Enjoy a fully marked course with electronic timing, professional support stations, and a welcoming post race meal for all finishers.

Join the Halloween themed Auchterarder 10K Chilli Trail on 31 October for a fun, chilli pepper shaped route into the Ochil Hills with forest trails, stream crossings and sweeping views. All finishers get a snood and a bespoke medal.

A scenic half marathon on woodland, coastal and farm trails around Dalmeny Estate and Cammo Nature Reserve near South Queensferry. Includes water stations, a finisher medal, prizes and fundraising for South Queensferry RNLI.

November 2026

Trail running festival at Tentsmuir Forest on 01 Nov 2026 with half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and 1.2 km options. Off-road, marked and marshalled, organised by Scurry Events with community support to Tayport Community Trust and Larick Centre.

A multi terrain 10 km race on 1 November 2026 with a reversed route featuring road and trail sections, views over Loch Tulla and a finishing descent across the Bridge of Orchy. Entries are limited and the event uses chip timing.

A 50 km trail race on 7 November 2026 following the Dava Way from Grantown-on-Spey to Forres, mostly on the old Highland Railway line. Mixed woodland and moorland terrain, Dava Summit climbs, 300 entries and an 8 hour cutoff.

Knockfarrel Hill Race on 7 November 2026 is an 8 km hill race with 300 m of climb, with day-of-event registration at Strathpeffer Community Centre replacing the previous Shinty Pavilion location.

A night time six hour ultra on a marked off-road 5 km loop at Balgone Barns, North Berwick, with solo and teams of up to three relay options. Music, lights and a tented lap base provide kit and support.

Short Course Cross Country Championships at Kirkcaldy High School on 7 November 2026. ProTay provides race pack fulfilment and timing while working with scottishathletics.

A roughly 33 mile point-to-point ultramarathon from Killin to Strathyre on 07 November 2026, following parts of cycle route No 7 and the Rob Roy Way, with checkpoints, a halfway drop bag and mandatory kit for November conditions.

A half marathon through the Kilpatrick Hills on single track trails and forestry roads, held on 14 November 2026 with Overtoun House listed as the event location.

A multi-terrain ultra around the Tweed Valley based at Glentress Peel Visitor Centre in mid-November. Two route options, 65 km and 50 km, follow forest trails, riverside paths and open moorland with marked routes and aid stations.

Part of the South By Five series, this is a free 5km run in Glasgow's Linn Park. It's one of six park events over 12 weeks, with the goal of completing five to finish the series. Entry supports local community and charity projects.

Trail runs of 10 km, 5 km and a 1.2 km festive fun run take place at the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill on 22 Nov 2026. The courses are marshaled and off-road and fun run proceeds support local charities.
