Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2026-2027

With 182 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2026-2027 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

Experience a trail running festival at Vogrie Country Park featuring multiple distances from a 1.6km fun run to a half marathon through woodlands and the scenic Tyne Valley.

The South By Five series brings a free 5km run to Queens Park in Glasgow. This is a single event in a 12-week series visiting six parks. Entry requires a community donation, with support for a local animal charity.

March 2027

Run through the 642 acre Culzean Castle estate in Ayrshire featuring coastal cliffs and woodland trails. Choose between 5km, 10km, or half marathon distances at this dog friendly event with live chip timing.

May 2028

Experience a 34 mile ultra marathon from Perth to Pitlochry as part of the Myths and Legends series. This exclusive event features tracking for all runners and a challenging 4 mph minimum pace requirement.

Experience a 31 mile ultra marathon from Innerleithen to Edinburgh. This single day event features a scenic route with 2,793 feet of ascent and is part of the legendary nine day SCOTIA challenge series.

Experience a 40 mile ultra marathon journeying from Edinburgh Airport to Perth. This single day event features scenic Scottish landscapes and is part of the legendary nine day SCOTIA challenge series.

June 2028

Experience a 39 mile ultra marathon from Kingussie to Inverness as part of the Scottish Myths and Legends series. This single day challenge features a mountainous route and limited participant numbers for an exclusive running experience.

Traverse the Scottish Highlands in this 45 mile ultra marathon from Dornoch to Dunbeath. Participants follow a coastal route as part of the Myths and Legends series with full tracking provided.

Experience a 38 mile ultra marathon journey from Dunbeath to John O'Groats. This coastal race offers finisher medals and real time tracking as you complete the final leg of the Scottish end to end challenge.

July 2029

This UKA regulated running event takes participants on a journey from Gretna Green to Penrith. Runners can choose between standard entry or a package including a race t-shirt and hi-viz jacket.
