The Formartine & Buchan Railway 12&6hr Ultra is a timed endurance event on the Formartine & Buchan railway line between Maud railway station and Auchnagatt. It takes place on 9 May 2026 at Maud Railway Museum (postcode AB42 5LY). The route between Maud and Auchnagatt is estimated at 4.3 miles. Competitors aim to cover as much distance as they can within the chosen time limit.

Details

Entry opened 11 May 2025 and closes 15 March 2026. Entries so far: 13 participants. Entry fees are UKA Member £60.00 and Non Member £62.00. Minimum entry age is 20 years; age restrictions follow Scottish Athletics rules.

For the 12-hour event there is a stated minimum distance of 26.3 to qualify for a medal and goodie bag; mini laps will be open toward the end of the race and only completed short mini laps are counted. Marathon completion is preferred but not required. Support crews are advised and may provide support at either end of the course. Prizes are listed for 12-hour category winners by age groups and for 6-hour places 1st to 3rd, plus an overall male and female champion trophy. The event is organised by Tay & Ram Running Events.
