Formartine & Buchan Railway 12&6 Ultra
This event offers two timed running formats on the Formartine and Buchan railway line between Maud railway station and Auchnagatt village hall. The distance from Maud to Auchnagatt is estimated at approximately 4.3 miles. Competitors run as much distance as they can within their chosen time limit.
The event includes a 12 hour race and a 6 hour race. Participants in the 12 hour event must reach a minimum distance of 26.3 miles to qualify for a medal and goodie bag. Mini laps will be open towards the end of the race and only completed mini short laps are counted.
Entry is open to people aged 20 years and older, with rules applied under Scottish Athletics. Having completed a marathon is preferred but not required. Support crews are permitted and may provide assistance at either end of the course.
Prizes are awarded by category. For the 12 hour race there are male and female Senior, Veteran, Vet 50 and Vet 60 categories. For the 6 hour race prizes are awarded for first, second and third places. There is also an overall male and female champion trophy that is returned to the organisers each year.
