The Formartine & Buchan Railway 12 & 6 hour Ultra takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026 on the Formartine & Buchan railway line between Maud station and Auchnagatt. The course distance from Maud to Auchnagatt is estimated at about 4.3 miles. Competitors run for either a 12-hour or a 6-hour time limit and aim to record as much distance as they can within that period. Entries open 11 May 2025 and close 15 March 2026. Entry fees are listed as UKA member £60.00 and non member £62.00. Entries so far: 8 participants. Minimum age is 20 years or older, with age rules relative to the event date. A minimum distance of 26.3 is required to qualify for a medal and goodie bag. Mini laps will be open towards the end of the race and only completed mini short laps are counted. Support crews are advised and may provide support at either end of the course. Prizes are offered by category: the 12-hour event has male and female Senior, Veteran, Vet 50 and Vet 60 categories; the 6-hour event awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Morven Hill Race at Groddie near Dinnet on Saturday 8 November 2025 offers three waymarked distances up a classic upland summit. Expect a testing climb, scenic views and limited entries on the day.

Kirkhill 8 is an 8 hour timed trail at Kirkhill Forest where you repeat a scenic 4.3 mile loop as many times as you like, aiming for distances from 20 miles to 50 miles. Field limited to 100 with pre entry closing 30 April 2026.
