Event

The Formartine & Buchan Railway ultra is a time-based running event on the Formartine & Buchan railway line between Maud railway station and Auchnagatt village hall. The total distance from Maud to Auchnagatt is estimated at 4.3 miles. The event offers two timed courses:

  • 12 Hour
  • 6 Hour

Competitors aim to run as much distance as they can within the chosen time limit. Mini laps will be open towards the end of the race; only completed mini short laps are counted. Organisers advise participants to have a support crew; crews can provide support at either end. Age restrictions apply: participants must be 20 years or older, with rules referenced under Scottish Athletics.

  • UKA Member: £60.00
  • Non Member: £62.00

For the 12-hour event there are category prizes for male and female Senior, Veteran, Vet 50, and Vet 60. The 6-hour event has 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. There is also an overall male and female champion trophy returned to organisers each year. A minimum distance of 26.3 is specified to qualify for a medal and goodie bag.
