Formartine & Buchan Railway 12&6 Ultra
The event is a timed ultra run on the Formartine and Buchan railway line between Maud railway station and Auchnagatt village hall. The distance between Maud and Auchnagatt is estimated at 4.3 miles. Competitors aim to cover as much distance as they can within the event time limits.
- 12 hour event: cover as much distance as possible within 12 hours.
- 6 hour event: cover as much distance as possible within 6 hours.
A minimum distance of 26.3 miles is required to qualify for a medal and goodie bag; a few extra miles may be needed to complete and confirm that minimum on a final lap. Mini laps will be open towards the end of the race and only completed mini short laps are counted. Support crews are permitted and can provide assistance at either end of the course.

Prizes are awarded across categories for the 12 hour event including male and female senior, veteran, vet 50 and vet 60 categories, and 1st to 3rd places for the 6 hour event.
