The Mormond Hill Run celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026. This running event takes place on a route that covers a total distance of 5.6 miles (9 km). Participants will encounter approximately 600 feet of ascent as they navigate the course.

The run begins at the Ritchie Hall playing field in Strichen. From the start, the route leads runners toward the summit of Mormond Hill, providing views across the Buchan countryside. On clear days, the scenery from the top extends from the sea to Bennachie. The event features a single water station located at the Hunters Lodge at the hill's summit.

Course facilities include:

  • 9 km distance with 600 feet of elevation gain.

Marshals are positioned at specific locations along the route to manage safety and provide directional guidance. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a bottle of water upon completion. Additional refreshments, such as tea and snacks, are available for a donation to the Ritchie Hall funds.

The event provides free parking at the Ritchie Hall, though spaces may be limited. Changing and toilet facilities are available at the start and finish area. The race is open to various age groups, with specific requirements for participants under 16 and under 14 years of age.
