Course and safety

The route visits six of the Bennachie peaks, including Mither Tap, Oxen Craig and Millstone Hill, and has over 5000 ft of total elevation. There is a cut-off of 4 hours at approximately 18 miles, the closest point to the Visitor Centre, before the major climbs. The cut-off is described as essential for the safety of marshals and runners.

The event is run in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of Scotish Hill Runners. Competitors must carry minimum SHR kit for the entirety of the race. A stated full kit list includes a waterproof full body cover, foil blanket, hat, gloves and whistle. Organisers state "No kit, no race" and that a kit check can be expected. A GPX file of the course is available.

Access and facilities

Runners must be 18 years or older on the day. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs. The event is cupless; water will be provided at designated stations and marshals will fill runners' own bottles or cups. Photo ID is required to collect race numbers.
