Tom’s Cairn 10K & 5K Trail Races

Tom's Cairn Trail Races

Tom's Cairn Trail Races take place in Finzean, Deeside on 20 September 2026. The races are organised by the Parent Council for Finzean School and Ballogie Nursery; the event began in 2016 and serves as a key fundraiser for the school and nursery. Funds are used for teaching materials and to help subsidise educational trips. The organising committee includes keen runners who developed the event to raise money while offering a race in a rural setting.

The event offers several race options and on-site activities:

• 10.1 km route with 239 m ascent to Tom's Cairn. Minimum age 16.
• 5 km route through estate woods for adults and academy or senior school children.
• Children's race around fields by the Church. Ice cream provided. Enter on the day.

Homebakes and hot drinks will be available with cash and card donations accepted. The programme includes a piper on the hill and live music after the races.
