Cnoc Dubh Night Race
Cnoc Dubh is a night trail running event at Cambus O May in the United Kingdom, organised by Deeside Runners. The advertised course distance is 7.5 km with 270 m of climb. Minimum age for entry is 16.
Pre-registration is free and entrants pay when they collect their race number. There is a £1 entry fee on the day. Registration closes on Thursday 3 December 2026 at 16:00 GMT.
Runners must carry a good headtorch, full body cover, a map and a compass. A spare torch is recommended. The course will be marked with reflective canes.
The venue is the Cambus O May hotel on the north side of the A93 midway between Dinnet and Ballater. There is some parking at the hotel and the Cambus suspension bridge car park is about 300 m away. The hotel will serve teas, coffees, cakes and soup and will accept cash.
The route includes about 1 km through the woods before rejoining the previous course used until 2023. This change removes the stony track at the start and finish but adds a small amount of distance and climb. Expect fallen trees, brashings, puddles and wet holes on the trail.
