Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2025-2026

With 105 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2025-2026 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

Join the SAAC Open Cross Country Races at Shetland Golf Club, Dale on 30 November 2025 for the first of four league fixtures. With distances from 1.5 to 6.5 km for all ages, entries are open online until 21:00 on 28 November.

The ACORN South By Five - Rouken Glen will take place in Glasgow on Sunday 30 November 2025. You can run 5 kilometers.

December 2025

Friendly 6 km social trail run from Milngavie along sections of the Clyde Coastal Path and West Highland Way, led by a qualified guide who will regroup the group so no one is left behind. Finish with a festive pub Christmas social.

Mortonhall local orienteering on Saturday 6 December offers courses from short junior loops to a challenging green 5.6 km course, across estate and campsite terrain. Advance entries recommended to guarantee a waterproof map.

Celebrate the season at the Kings Seat Santa Day Hill Race in Dunkeld on 6 December, a family friendly hill run around the cathedral with 1 km junior and 5 km senior routes. Fancy dress is optional and prizes will be awarded.

Take on the Harmeny AC 7R Multi Terrain Half Marathon on 7 December 2025, a rugged winter course around Harlaw and Threipmuir reservoirs with trails, rocks and bogs. Limited to 140 runners and now closed to entries.

Join the EpicTrails 8km in Milngavie on 11 December for a friendly guided run along scenic trails including the Clyde Coastal Path and West Highland Way. Small supported groups offer a social, safe adventure for runners of all levels.

Take on a challenging winter fell race up Cairnsmore of Fleet on 13 December 2025 across the Southern Galloway mountains. Proceeds benefit Galloway Mountain Rescue Team and competent navigation skills are required.

Join the Aviemore Santa Run for a festive 5 km woodland trail or a family mile at scenic Glenmore Lodge with a new route. Dog and pushchair friendly, it includes Santa suits, live music, mulled wine and supports local charities.

January 2026

Kick off the New Year with the Aonach Mor Uphill at Nevis Range: a lung busting 4 km ascent gaining 610 m above Fort William. Entries are full but racers enjoy post race soup and the option of a warm gondola descent.
