Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2026-2027

With 207 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2026-2027 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

A guided social trail run on 07 May 2026 from Milngavie Train Station exploring sections of the Clyde Coastal Path and West Highland Way. Guided, insured, trail shoes required, not for profit.

Timed endurance races on the Formartine & Buchan railway between Maud and Auchnagatt, with 12-hour and 6-hour options. Entrants aged 20 or older aim to cover maximum distance to qualify for medals and category prizes.

A 55 mile circular trail on 09 May 2026 with 7,450 ft of ascent around Glenshee, mostly off road across forest trails and open hillside. The route finishes at Gulabin Lodge and the event is an UTMB Index Qualifier.

A 35 mile trail running event on the Kintyre Way from Tayinloan to Campbeltown on 9 May 2026. Waymarked route with GPS tracking, drop-bag service, finish showers and massage, with solo and relay entry options.

Join the Saltire Trail Races in Athelstaneford on Saturday 9 May 2026 for scenic 2 km, 5 km and 10 km farm trails at Kilduff Farm. Family friendly fun and village fair treats raise funds for Athelstaneford Primary School.

Traditional Scottish hill race on Ben Lomond with a 12.6 km route and 960 m ascent. Entry is limited to 100 runners and strict kit checks require waterproofs, hat, gloves and a whistle for safety.

A coastal trail event on 9 May 2026 offering a 50 mile and a 50 km race along the Moray coastline, finishing at Cullen Viaduct. Courses pass beaches, cliffs, Spey Bay and several coastal landmarks.

Trail races at Dalkeith Country Park on Sunday 10 May 2026 include a junior 1 km, a 5K and a 10K. The chip timed event is volunteer run, awards handmade medals, and raises funds for MYPAS youth services.

A charity trail event at Pollok Country Park on 10 May 2026 offering 5 km and 10 km multi-terrain routes, manual timing, finishers goody bags, water and first aid, with all profits donated to Bike For Good.

A 5k obstacle event at Beveridge Park on 10 May 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide around a looped course with steep hills. Entry includes a medal and fundraising support, with a minimum fundraising target of £50.

A 3.4k hill race with 400 m ascent near Strathyre, held on 13 May 2026 as part of the Bog'n'Burn Series. Entries are via SiEntries, minimum age 14, with prize categories from U18 to V80.

Experience a monthly trail running series at the base of Bennachie featuring four 5 km races through forest tracks. Compete for the best overall time in this evening summer event held near the Bennachie Visitor Centre.

Social 8 km trail run from Milngavie Train Station exploring the Clyde Coastal Path and parts of the West Highland Way. Guided and first aid trained, with mandatory trail shoes and proceeds donated to a local charity.

A 24 hour looped trail event in Inverkip where runners complete as many 5.9 km laps as they wish. Everton Scout Camp provides camping and on site facilities while the event features tiered finisher medals and festival activities.

A 9k road loop in Uplawmoor on 16 May 2026 with varied climbs and a fast downhill finish, organised as a charity event raising funds for Scottish Action for Mental Health.

A 15.5 km mountain race on the Isle of Arran with 870 m of ascent, starting and finishing at Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick. The route climbs Goat Fell via the standard tourist path and requires specific mountain safety kit and hill support.

An uphill only 7.2 km race gaining 670 m to the summit of Glas Tulaichean on mixed double track and open hill, hosted by Dundee Hawkhill Harriers at Dalmunzie Estate. A free approximately 1 km fun run is available for younger runners.

A 400 km, eight-day ultra-running expedition across north-west Scotland from Knoydart to Cape Wrath, running ancient paths, lochs and mountain terrain. A three-day Cape Wrath 100 covers the final stages with the same tented camp format.

Test your limits at the MacTuff Really Muddy 5k and 10k in Aberdeen. Navigate a course of mud water and obstacles to receive your technical T shirt and finishers medal.

A muddy off road event in Aberdeen on Sunday 17 May 2026 with 5 km and 10 km options for adults and supervised teenagers. Entries include a Tec T-shirt and finishers medal and the course features mud, water and obstacles.
