Fox Trail Race 2 | Balgone
This event takes place at Balgone Estate and offers two trail distances that follow parts of the John Muir Way through woodland and farmland. The course is largely flat with little elevation and passes ponds backed by a sharp cliff face.
The route is multi-terrain, combining groomed paths, woodland trails, quiet roads and muddy farm tracks. Trail shoes are recommended; on-road trainers are not advised. Race parking is in a field on the estate and marshals will direct vehicles. Dogs are not permitted on the course.
Distances
- 5 km course around the Balgone Estate including ponds and estate paths.
- 18 km trail out along parts of the John Muir Way then looping back.
Series and entries: series prizes are calculated from the best three placings. To be eligible for series prizes an athlete must enter the full series or the 5k series and complete at least three events; solo event entries are not eligible for series prizes. Full route information will be published around two weeks before the event when landowner permissions are confirmed.
Participants are asked to complete registration before the stated closing time, as volunteers move onto the course and cannot register late. As this is a working family farm, runners should expect potentially muddy underfoot conditions and variable winter weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
