Festive Trail Run at Cammo Nature Reserve
The Santa & Elf Dash takes place at the Cammo Nature Reserve in north-west Edinburgh. This seasonal event utilizes the scenic trails of the reserve, leading participants along riverside paths, through open fields, and past historic landmarks. The course terrain is varied and includes narrow paths, steps, and small wooden bridges. Due to these specific course features, the event is not suitable for buggies, wheelchairs, or frame runners.
Depending on the weather conditions prior to the event, ground conditions may be muddy or frosty. Participants are advised to wear trail shoes or trainers with significant grip to navigate the natural surfaces safely. The event has a capacity of approximately 250 participants.
The event offers three different distance options to accommodate various age groups:
- 10 km: Open to participants aged 17 and over.
- 5 km: Open to participants aged 11 and over.
- 1 km Elf Dash: A shorter distance open to all ages.
All finishers receive a medal as well as hot chocolate and cookies at the end of the course. While festive fancy dress is encouraged, it remains optional for all runners. The event supports charitable causes, including Young Lives vs Cancer and the Edinburgh Food Project. A collection point is available on-site for non-perishable food treats.
