Aonach Mor Uphill 2027 (New Year)
Aonach Mor Uphill is an uphill running event held on 1 January 2027 at Nevis Range Ski Centre, Torlundy, Fort William. The course runs from the Nevis Range car park to the top gondola station under normal gondola operation. The advertised distance is 3 km with a climb of 610 m. If the gondola is not running the route is revised to run from the bottom station up to Tower 13 and back to the start, with the presentation and refreshments moved to the bottom station.
The race is organized by Lochaber AC, capped at 150 entries, and has a minimum age of 18. Entry uses pre-selection lists; 50% of places will be allocated to female and non-binary runners initially, with remaining places opened to all genders after 30 November if the allocation target is not met. There is no on-the-day entry.
All participants and marshals receive soup, a roll, and a hot drink at the Snowgoose Cafe on presentation of race numbers. Toilets are available at both the start and finish. Racers may leave a bag of warm layers at the gondola station at registration to collect after the race; riders may return on the gondola free of charge or choose to run down.
A strict kit policy applies: full body cover must be carried or worn. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, waterproof over trousers with taped seams, a warm hat or buff, and gloves or mitts.
