Trail Running calendar near Maud 2026-2027

Timed endurance races on the Formartine & Buchan railway between Maud and Auchnagatt, with 12-hour and 6-hour options. Entrants aged 20 or older aim to cover maximum distance to qualify for medals and category prizes.

An off-road mud run in Aberdeen on 17 May 2026 with 5 km and 10 km options for adults and supervised teenagers. The course includes mud, water and obstacles; entries include a Tec T shirt, finishers medal, free parking and photos.

A community fun run in Kintore on a 5 km route starting and finishing at Kintore School playing fields. No official timing or prizes, a medal is given to every entrant and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Kirkhill 8 is a trail loop event at Kirkhill Forest where runners repeat a 4.3 mile lap over eight hours to target any total distance. The event required pre entry, a minimum kit list and a minimum age of 18.

Community trail run in Tomatin with 5k and 10k routes on rural, undulating roads and paths, two to three water stations, medals for finishers and trophies for fastest categories; minimum age 4 with under 10s accompanied by an adult.

MacTuffX Aberdeen on 25/05/2026 features individual and team formats built from repeated 400 m and 800 m segments, with published entry fees and an 18 plus age requirement.

June 2026

A not-a-race run on 6 June 2026 from Archibald Simpsons to BrewDog DogTap in Ellon, with an alternative Dyce start. Options are about 21 miles (34k) or 15 miles (24k); two drinks stations and a goody bag with medal.

An off road 60 km ultra based at Mar Lodge in the Cairngorms National Park with 1006 m ascent, limited aid stations and a 48 km short course option via CP5 at Linn of Dee.

An obstacle 5k in Camperdown Park on 14 June 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide across mixed terrain. Entry prices and a minimum fundraising target apply, and the event is not suitable for wheelchair users.

A beach 5 km race at Balmedie on 18 June 2026 organised by the Cosmics, featuring 30 m of climb and entries via Webscorer; parking is at Balmedie Beach car park.

A 5.8 mile hill race in Reid Park, Forfar on 19 June 2026 with paths and trails over "Bummie". Entry is £5, post race bridies are provided and a vegetarian option is available.

A lapped trail endurance event in Royal Deeside offering 24 hour, 12 hour and 6 hour options on a 4.2 mile lap. Solo and team entries are accepted and the venue provides on course marshals, medics, limited camping and gender inclusive facil..

A 100 miles ultra trail race starting and finishing in Forres, linking the Moray Coastal Trail, Speyside Way and Dava Way. Limited to 100 entries with a 30 hour cutoff; entrants must be 18 and experienced in ultra distance running.

A team relay covering about 100 miles around the Moray Way from Forres, split into 12 legs with teams of up to four, a 24 hour cutoff and a tracker baton to record each handover.

A Category C long hill race of 43 km along the historic Lairig Ghru drove road, rising to 835 m between Braemar and Aviemore. Online entry is £25 and net proceeds support the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team.
