Event overview

Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104-mile ultra running event with approximately 4611 m of elevation. The race starts in St John’s Town of Dalry and finishes in Galashiels. The field is capped at 250 places and the overall cut-off is 38 hours. The published entry fee is £209. Finishers within the cut-off receive a finisher buckle: Gold for the top 100, Silver for places 101-200 and Bronze for 201+. Top three male and top three female finishers receive bespoke trophies.

Route and logistics

The route follows the Southern Upland Way and includes named features such as Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701 m), Minch Moor, Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. Several checkpoints provide refreshments and medical cover; some checkpoints are water-only. Runners must attend and be recorded at all checkpoints or face disqualification. A dropbag service is available for the finish and at Checkpoints 7 and 8. One pacer is permitted from Checkpoint 7; support crew access is restricted at several checkpoints. Optional coach return transport to the start is offered for a fee.

Requirements and equipment

Entrants must be aged 20 or over and must have completed a marathon (or be entered in one to be completed before race day). A GB Race Tracker GPS tracker is mandatory and remains the property of the tracker provider; loss may incur a charge. Mandatory kit includes a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat and pants, compass, headtorch and backup light, emergency rations, thermal bag, whistle, phone and a minimum 1-litre water container.
