Ultra Scotland 100
Ultra Scotland 100 is a long distance trail event that follows the Southern Upland Way. The course covers roughly 104 miles with around 4611m of elevation and runs between St John's Town of Dalry and the finish in Galashiels. The route passes notable landmarks and high points including Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701m), Minch Moor, Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. The route is way marked as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and carries UTMB performance index and ITRA mountain points.
The event offers 250 places and has an overall cut off of 38 hours. Finishers within the cut off receive the Ultra Scotland 100 buckle; the first 100 placed finishers earn a gold buckle, places 101 to 200 earn silver and places 201 and above earn bronze. Hand painted buckles and trophies are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old, have completed a marathon and an organised 50 mile ultramarathon prior to the event, and be in good health on race day. Live GPS tracking is provided by GB Race Tracker and organisers publish high level and low level GPX files for the route.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times. Typical required items include a hardcopy map, compass, waterproof coat and pants, headtorch and backup light, GPS tracker, mobile phone, emergency rations and a thermal bag.
