Beecraigs Backyard Ultra

Beecraigs Backyard Ultra takes place at Beecraigs Country Park near Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland on 24 April 2027. The format requires runners to complete a fixed 4.167 mile (6.7 km) loop every hour; finish a loop within the hour and you earn the right to start the next. The same loop repeats until only one runner completes a solo lap and is declared the Last One Standing; all others are recorded as DNF.

The route uses forest trails, gravel paths and undulating woodland tracks, with approximately 150 m of elevation per loop. Course markings are consistent and GPX and Strava files will be published ahead of the event. In 2026 the first Last One Standing completed 34 loops, a total of 142 miles.

Entry includes race participation and timing, parking for one vehicle, access to a camping area (tent or small shelter), hot water with tea and coffee while attendees bring a reusable cup, basic self-service snacks, toilets, live results and lap tracking, and a finisher's medal for every participant. Trophies are awarded to the Last One Standing and the Assist.

On-site rules require runners to be in the starting corral when the bell rings; warnings are given at three, two and one minute before each lap. No poles or on-course assistance is allowed and support is permitted only between laps. Open flames and camping stoves are prohibited. Compulsory kit includes a head torch or equivalent and hi-vis or reflective clothing for after dark. First aiders will be on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
