The Ultra Scotland 50 is a 56-mile trail ultra on Saturday 6 June 2026, organised by GB Ultras. The race follows the Southern Upland Way and is way-marked as one of Scotland’s Great Trails. The entry fee is £119 and the event is limited to 400 places. The race has an overall cut-off of 20 hours. Live online tracking is provided by GB Race Tracker and runners use a GPS tracker supplied by the event.

Course, checkpoints and race requirements

The route starts at St John’s Town of Dalry and finishes at Moffat Rugby Club, passing through forests, valleys and the hills of southern Scotland. There are multiple checkpoints along the course, including two water-only checkpoints. Checkpoints provide refreshments, indoor hot food at some locations, and medical or first-aid cover. Pacers and support runners are not permitted. Support crews are restricted at several checkpoints and may only meet runners at specified locations.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked. Required items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat with sealed seams (minimum 10,000mm), waterproof trousers, base plate compass, headtorch (minimum 75 lumens) and a backup light (minimum 25 lumens), fully charged mobile phone, emergency blanket, whistle, at least 500 calories of emergency rations and a water container (minimum 1 litre).
