Ultra Scotland 50 is a 56-mile trail ultra on Saturday 6 June 2026. The event follows the Southern Upland Way through forests, valleys and mountains of southern Scotland. The organisers list the elevation gain as approximately 2447 m and the event has 400 places. The published overall cut-off for the race is 20 hours. Course and checkpoints

The race starts at St Johns Town of Dalry and finishes at Moffat Rugby Club. The route follows the Southern Upland Way. There are multiple checkpoints along the route, with water-only checkpoints at about 18 miles and 44 miles. Other staffed checkpoints provide refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, hot food at indoor locations, and medical or first responder cover. Competitors must check in at every checkpoint; failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Entry, kit and rules

The entry fee is £119. Runners must be at least 20 years old, in good health, and have completed at least a marathon distance previously. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random checks; required items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat with sealed seams (min 10,000 mm), compass, base layer long sleeve, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, emergency blanket, headtorch (min 75 lumens) and a backup light (min 25 lumens), 500 calories of emergency rations, whistle and the event GPS tracker. Pacers or support runners are not permitted. Support crew access is restricted at several checkpoints and limited parking is available near the start.
