The Heart of Granite is a challenging 20-mile (32km) circular race held in the Galloway Mountains, starting and finishing at Caldons Old Campsite in Glen Trool, Newton Stewart. Featuring 1850m of ascent, the course traverses notable landmarks such as Curleywee, Rig of Jarkness, the Murder Hole, and the summit of Merrick. Fully supported and marshalled by Galloway Mountain Rescue, the race offers aid stations with food and refreshments, including hearty soup and local beer at the finish. Designed for experienced fell runners aged 18 and over, participants must carry mandatory safety kit due to potential winter conditions. All profits support the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
