Heart of Granite

Heart of Granite is a classic circular mountain race in Galloway, Scotland, covering 32 km (20 miles) with 1850 m of ascent. The route starts at Caldons Old Campsite in Bargrennan, Glen Trool, Newton Stewart, circumnavigating the hills via Lamachan, the ridge to Curleywee, the Axe Head checkpoint on the Southern Uplands Way, Craiglee, the Rig of Jarkness plateau, the Murder Hole, Old Grey Man of Merrick, and back to Caldons. The event is supported and marshalled by Galloway Mountain Rescue, with hot soup and refreshments at the finish.
