Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2026-2027

With 136 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2026-2027 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

Trail running festival at Tentsmuir Forest on 01 Nov 2026 offering a Half Marathon, 10 km, 5 km and a 1.2 km family run. Routes are clearly marked and marshalled and finishers in the main distances receive medals and mementos.

A 50 km trail race along the Dava Way from Grantown on Spey to Forres, mainly on the old Highland Railway line, with woodland, moorland and a 321 m summit. Limited to 300 runners, 8 hour cutoff, held on 7 November 2026.

A nocturnal ultra where runners cover a well marked 5 km trail loop as many times as possible in six hours. Solo runners and teams of up to three pass a tented base each lap and race with music, lights and on course support.

A multi-terrain ultra around the Tweed Valley based at Glentress Peel Visitor Centre in mid-November. Two route options, 65 km and 50 km, follow forest trails, riverside paths and open moorland with marked routes and aid stations.
