Trail Running Calendar Scotland 2026-2027

With 192 trail races in Scotland lined up for the 2026-2027 season, there's a race for every level of runner. In Glasgow, take on the challenge of the city's lush parks, where the trails are as welcoming as the locals. Transition to the cobbled streets and ancient edifices of Edinburgh, where running is not just exercise but a communion with history, as you breeze past the iconic silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, the city's very own mountain.

Heading northeast, Aberdeen's coastal trails offer a refreshing run with the North Sea as your companion, or venture into Dundee, where the revitalized waterfront serves as a picturesque starting line for a running experience filled with scenic views and a fresh, maritime air.

Just outside the hustle and bustle, Paisley presents a runner’s paradise with its undulating hills, a test of endurance. Lastly, East Kilbride calls to nature lovers with its tranquil woodland trails, where the peace and quiet of the forest canopy creates an idyllic backdrop for both the casual jogger and the competitive sprinter.

A 5k obstacle course at Strathclyde Country Park on Saturday 12 June 2027 where participants climb, crawl and slide while raising funds for cancer research. Open to people aged 13 and over with a minimum fundraising target of £50.

A lapped endurance trail event at Knockburn Sports Loch in Royal Deeside offering 24 hour, 12 hour and 6 hour options on a 4.2 mile loop. Solo and team entries are accepted and on course medical cover and limited camping are available.

August 2027

Scottish 6 Days Perthshire 2027 is a five day forest orienteering event in Highland Perthshire from 1 to 6 August 2027, marking the 50th anniversary. It features varied terrain, age class and colour coded courses plus rest day activities.

A fully supported, waymarked 100 mile ultramarathon from Glamis Castle to Stirling Castle held 28–30 August 2027, with staffed pit stops, professional medical cover, bag transport and a 48 hour completion window.

May 2028

A new single day ultra of about 34.5 miles from Perth to Pitlochry, MTC GRIMALKIN is Day 4 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series. Entry is limited, mandatory kit and tracking are required, and all finishers receive a medal.

MTC GLAISTIG is a 31.3 mile single day ultra from Innerleithen to Travelodge Edinburgh Airport. It is day two of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series, limited to 40 runners, with mandatory kit, tracking and a finisher medal.

MTC Nuckelavee is a single day ultra of 40.1 miles and serves as Day 3 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA end to end series. Entry is limited and the race enforces cut offs based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph.

June 2028

A one-day ultramarathon of 39 miles from Kingussie to Inverness and listed as Day 6 of the MTC SCOTIA series. Field size is limited and the race enforces a minimum 4 miles per hour average; it is cup free.

MTC SELKIE is a single-day ultramarathon of about 42 miles from Dornoch to Dunbeath, serving as Day 8 of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA series. Field size is limited, tracking and mandatory kit are required, and a minimum average speed of 4 mph is..

A single day, 38 miles ultra from Dunbeath to John O'Groats that serves as Day 9 of MTC SCOTIA, limited to 40 competitors with mandatory kit, tracking devices and a bespoke finisher medal.

July 2029

A single day *38 mile* ultra from Gretna Green to Penrith, the MTC Boggart is Day 1 of the thirteen day MTC ALBION series. Entries are limited and the event enforces a minimum 4.0 mph average with a specified mandatory kit list.
