Saltire 24 Ultra Trail Race
The Saltire 24 is an endurance trail running event held at the Knockburn Sports Loch in Royal Deeside, Scotland. Set against the backdrop of Kerloch Hill and Fetteresso Forest, the competition takes place on a scenic multi-terrain loop within the Knockburn estate. The event is scheduled to coincide with midsummer, offering participants the opportunity to run through the Aberdeenshire landscape during the longest days of the year.
Participants can choose from three distinct duration options:
- 24 hour race
- 12 hour race
- 6 hour race
The course consists of a 4.2 mile waymarked lap. Athletes aiming for a "century" or 100 mile milestone can achieve this in the 24 hour category by completing approximately one lap per hour. The event accommodates both solo runners and teams ranging from 2 to 8 members. For those entering in teams, only one member is permitted to be on the course at any given time.
The venue provides various facilities for participants, including an event base at the Sports Academy and a shower block located near the conference centre. Limited serviced camping is also available on-site for the duration of the event. Safety is managed through fixed and mobile marshals, along with medical personnel stationed around the course. The event maintains an inclusive environment with gender-neutral facilities and welcomes all participants aged 18 or older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
