MTC GLAISTIG

The MTC GLAISTIG is a single day ultra race of 31.3 miles that forms Day 2 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA end to end challenge. The route runs from the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen to Travelodge Edinburgh Airport in Ratho Park and has a reported ascent of about 2,793 ft and descent of about 3,138 ft.

Competitor fields are limited to 20 regular entries with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum of 40 competitors on the day. The organiser, Ultra Running Ltd (URL), applies preset cut off points based on a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph; falling below this average may lead to withdrawal. URL provides each competitor with a tracking device that includes an SOS function and provides real time monitoring during the race. Route maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants in advance, normally by email about four weeks before the event.

All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal and male and female champions will receive trophies. Entry fees are non refundable; a race package option includes a race shirt and lightweight hi viz jacket for an additional fee. Entrants must be aged at least 20 on race day and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, an emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit.
