MTC Glaistig

The MTC Glaistig is an ultra marathon event with a race distance of 31.3 miles (50.4 km). It is part of the larger Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. Specifically, the Glaistig race serves as day two of the MTC Scotia, a nine-day, 366-mile challenge that covers the length of Scotland.

The point-to-point course starts at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen and finishes at the Travelodge Edinburgh Airport. There are three checkpoints along the route at Peebles, West Linton, and Currie.

The event is a cup-free race; participants must bring their own reusable cup. A bespoke GLAISTIG medal is awarded to all finishers, with trophies for the male and female champions. The race has a strict participant limit of 40 runners. All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal.

A minimum average pace of 4 miles per hour is enforced. Participants who fall below this pace will be withdrawn from the race. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch, map and compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit.

Entry fees start at £90. An upgraded package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a hi-viz jacket, is available for £155. All deposits and payments are non-refundable, though a deferral option to the following year is available for a £15 fee up to four weeks before the event date.
