MTC GLAISTIG (30 May 2027)

The MTC GLAISTIG is a single-day ultra running event of 31.3 miles from the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen to Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park. It is the first edition of this race and forms Day 2 of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA end-to-end challenge. Route data lists 2,793 ft of ascent and 3,138 ft of descent. All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal and male and female champions receive trophies.

Logistics and rules

Entry is limited to 20 standard competitors with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. Standard entry fee is £90.00; a Plus Race Package is £155.00 and includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event. All fees and deposits are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option and a defer option (fee £15 up to four weeks before the event) are offered at check-out.

The race has preset cut-off points based on a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph, with checkpoints at 9.6 miles (CP1), 16.6 miles (CP2), 25.1 miles (CP3) and the finish. Entrants must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps (provided prior to the race), compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Maps and GPX files are emailed to entrants four weeks before the event and competitors are provided with tracking devices that include SOS functionality. The event is cup-free.
