MTC GLAISTIG
The MTC GLAISTIG is a single-day ultramarathon held on 28 May 2028. The route covers 31.3 miles with listed ascent of 2,793 ft and descent of 3,138 ft. This is the first edition and forms Day 2 of the nine-day Mount to Coast SCOTIA end-to-end challenge.
The course starts at The Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen and finishes at the Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park, Edinburgh. Intermediate checkpoints are recorded at about 9.6 miles (A703 Peebles), 16.6 miles (Annsmill, West Linton) and 25.1 miles (Currie). Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only places plus an allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants for a maximum of 40 starters.
Logistics and entry details are published by the organiser. Entry fees are shown as £90.00 for the standard entry and £155.00 for the Plus Race Package which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event. All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal and male and female champions receive trophies.
Safety and rules include a mandatory minimum average speed of 4.0 mph with preset cut-off points; falling below this requirement may lead to withdrawal. Competitors must carry required kit such as a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps provided by the organiser, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. Entrants must meet the organiser’s age requirement and accept the event terms, including non-refundable fees and available optional personal cancellation insurance or a defer option.
