MTC GLAISTIG
The MTC GLAISTIG is a single day ultra event held on 28 May 2028. The course covers 31.3 miles and forms Day 2 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series within the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge.
The route starts at The Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen and finishes at the Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park. Total recorded ascent is 2,793 ft with 3,138 ft of descent. Checkpoints are located near Peebles (A703), Annsmill in West Linton and Currie. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants approximately four weeks before the event. Competitors receive a tracking device with an SOS function for real time monitoring.
Field size is limited to 20 entries plus an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA competitors for a maximum of 40 starters. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. The event uses preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, the provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. The race is cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup. Entry fees are non refundable; standard entry is £90 and a plus race package with race shirt and hi vis jacket is £155 when ordered in advance.
All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal. Male and female champions will be awarded trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
