The MTC GLAISTIG is a new single-day ultra running event on 30 May 2027. The course distance is 31.3 miles and this is the first edition. It forms Day 2 of the MTC SCOTIA, a nine-day Mount to Coast end-to-end challenge of Scotland. Entry is limited to 20 direct race places with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal; male and female champions receive trophies. The event is cup-free.

Route, entry and rules

The route starts at the Traquair Arms Hotel, Innerleithen, and finishes at Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park, Edinburgh. Intermediate check points are listed at approximately 9.6 miles (A703 Peebles), 16.6 miles (Annsmill, West Linton) and 25.1 miles (Currie). Total ascent is given as about 2,793 ft and total descent about 3,138 ft. Competitors must meet a minimum average of 4.0 mph on the course or be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants and tracking devices with SOS capability are issued for real-time monitoring. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Entrants must be at least 20 years old. Entry fees are stated as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket.
