MTC GLAISTIG

MTC GLAISTIG is a single day ultra running event covering 31.3 miles. It forms Day 2 of the nine day Mount to Coast SCOTIA end to end series and is presented as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge. The race is listed as the first edition.

The route starts at The Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen and finishes at the Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park, Edinburgh. Intermediate check points are located near Peebles (about 9.6 miles), Annsmill / West Linton (about 16.6 miles) and Currie (about 25.1 miles). Total ascent is 2,793 ft and total descent is 3,138 ft.

Entry is limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. Entry fees are published as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a Plus Race Package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi viz jacket when ordered at least four weeks before the event. All entries are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at checkout.

Organisers set preset cut off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; falling below that pace can lead to withdrawal. The event is cup free so competitors should supply a reusable cup. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants four weeks before the race and each competitor is issued a tracking device with an SOS function. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps and compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid and emergency food.
