Trail Running calendar near Dornoch 2026-2027

A five hour lap challenge in Inverlael Forest near Ullapool where participants complete 3.6 km laps as individuals or teams; the event raises funds for Highland Hospice and awards medals to finishers.

A 20 km AL category hill race on 14 June 2026 around the Slioch Horseshoe near Kinlochewe with an unmarked route, mandatory navigation and kit, and an enforced checkpoint cutoff.

A 100 mile ultra starting and finishing in Forres, the Moray Way 100 follows the Moray Coastal Trail, Speyside Way and Dava Way through beaches, forests and clifftop paths. Entries are limited and the race has a 30 hour cutoff.

A team relay covering roughly 100 mile around the Moray Way route, starting and finishing in Forres. Teams of up to four share twelve sections, with night running possible and a 24 hour cutoff.

July 2026

A 170 miles foot race from Glasgow to Inverness along the West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way with about 24,000 ft of ascent. Entry is restricted to runners with prior ultra experience and the route uses tracked, marshalled checkpoints..

Experience a solo 42 mile race along the Great Glen Way from Fort Augustus to Inverness. This unsupported event features views of Loch Ness and 6000 feet of elevation. Runners finish with a final lap of the athletics track.

Experience a hill race at Bennachie featuring a mixture of old turnpike roads and rough uphill climbs. This four mile route offers a fast descent on tidy paths for runners over eighteen years old.

A backyard ultra at Murthly Castle Estate where runners repeat 4.167 mile loops with a one hour time limit until one runner remains. Medals are awarded to all nonwinners as DNFs and a 100 mile medal is given to those still running after 24..

A weekend of trail races at Glen Tanar Estate in Royal Deeside, set in the Cairngorms National Park. Distance races run from 10 km to 55 km and the weekend includes family events and a new free Toddler Dash for 2026.

August 2026

A 5.6 km hill race within the Newtonmore Highland Games featuring field laps, multiple fences and a river, a steep ascent to An Torr and a technical heather descent before a final lap of the games field.

A multi-terrain running festival on 09 August 2026 with a half marathon, 10k, 5k and junior 1k following the River Deveron and finishing at Duff House Rugby Club. Medals for all finishers and prize categories by age.

A two-lap hill race from Monaltrie Park through Ballater village to a hill summit and back; entries are accepted on the day or online and bonuses are offered for new course records.

A trail ultra on 15 August 2026 offering 50 km and 100 km options along the Speyside Way from the Cairngorms to the Moray coast, with published cutoffs, entry limits, and route files for competitors.

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mormond Hill Run on a 5.6 mile course with stunning views. This 9 km hill run features 600 feet of ascent and awards bespoke medals to all finishers.

A short hill race within the Glenurquhart Highland Games in Drumnadrochit, about 3.5 miles with 700 feet of climb. Entry is via SiEntries, fee £10, minimum age 17.

A multi distance running festival at Kinloss Barracks on the Moray coast featuring road and runway courses plus a 4.1 mile Back Yard Ultra loop run hourly until one runner remains. Races include aid stations, prizes and finishers medals.

Two circular challenge walks from Rafford Village Hall, offering 30 mile and 50 mile routes that mix coastal paths, woodland and long distance trails, with time limits, route maps and GPX files and a 100 place entry limit.
