The Cairngorms Trail Marathon 2026

The Cairngorms Trail Marathon takes place on 20 September 2026 in the Cairngorms National Park, with a looped course that starts and finishes at the market stance in Kingussie. The event covers 26.2 miles and is roughly 80% trail and 20% road, so trail shoes are recommended.

The course follows a mix of surfaces including a short road section, a cycle path, river crossings and forest trails, and passes through areas around Killiehuntly and Glenfeshie. Runners are led out from Kingussie and return to the market stance to receive a finisher item and food at the finish. The organisers note undulating terrain and recommend entrants have completed at least a half marathon and be physically and mentally prepared. There are no cut-off times.

Included in the entry fee are a group warm-up led by a Fitnessat58° instructor, a bespoke finisher's medal and T-shirt, post-race food, prizes for the top three male and female finishers, and exclusive discounted B and B rates at nearby accommodations. Car parking is available at The Crossing, Kingussie Railway Station, Kingussie Church and The Market Stance.

Entry fee is £89.99 and entries are non-refundable. The event places are limited to 200. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
