Speyside Windfarm Challenge

The Speyside Windfarm Challenge is a community-run running event set for 30 Aug 2026 near Knockando. The event is organised by local charities with the stated aims of improving local education and provision of sports.

There are three race options:

  • Trail Half Marathon
  • 10K
  • 1 Mile Kids Run

Registration takes place at Margach Hall in Knockando. Race numbers must be collected at registration before each event. The race start area is near Kirdelbeg Farm. Entry closes on 27 Aug 2026. A service fee applies to each sign-up: 4% with a minimum of 50p. Entry prices listed are: half marathon with medal £19, half marathon without medal £17, 10K £12, and the 1 mile kids run £0.

Participants must be over 16 to take part in the half marathon or the 10K. The course is exposed to the elements and participants are advised to dress according to conditions. The childrens race is a flat out-and-back along an empty tarmac road.

Course support includes a water station at the top of the main climb and marshals positioned around the half marathon loop and at the bottom of the final descent. A multiple distance running festival on 09 Aug 2026 following the River Deveron from Turriff to Banff. Events include a half marathon, 10k, 5k trail and junior 1k, with medals, water stations and bus transport from registration to the start..

Two race options along the Speyside Way on 15 August 2026: a 50 km from Tamdhu Distillery to Buckie and a 100 km from Aviemore joining the 50 km route, with route GPX files and a handbook provided beforehand.

Kinloss Running Festival uses Kinloss Barracks runways and roads on 29 Aug to 30 Aug 2026, offering races from a 1K fun run to a Ray Hughes Half Marathon plus a 4.1 mile Back Yard Ultra loop. Routes are mostly tarmac with minimal elevation.
