August 2026

Nephin is a mountain race in County Mayo with a 7.35 km route and 736 m ascent on a fully waymarked path. Level B kit is mandatory and a short junior out and back course is provided.

A 19 mile, 8500 ft challenge walk across the highest Mourne peaks on 8 August 2026. Participants follow their own route between fixed checkpoints and require mountain navigation skills and prior experience.

A backyard ultra at Florence Court where runners complete repeated 4.17 mile laps with one hour to finish each lap. Laps repeat until only one runner remains; all finishers receive a medal and an event t shirt.

A marked mountain race on Knocknarea in County Sligo on 9 August 2026, featuring a 6.5 km route with 340 m ascent and an approximate 4 km short course. Level B mandatory kit is required and GPS is not allowed.

A four day marathon and half marathon event along 105 miles of Inishowen coastline on the Wild Atlantic Way. Participants may run or walk full or half marathon distances across separate daily routes.

A 15 kilometre multi-terrain run from Strandhill beachfront to the summit of Knocknarea and back, featuring a six kilometre hill section with a 700 foot climb. The 2026 race is set for Saturday 22 August and is now full.

September 2026

A beach and sand dune running event in Bundoran on 12 September 2026 offering 5K and 10K routes. Entry includes a posted race pack and there is an option to buy a t-shirt; fees are €25 and €30.

A two day mountain navigation and endurance event in the Mourne Mountains for teams of two, covering about 35 to 55 km across two days, with a one day score class. Participants camp overnight and are expected to be self sufficient.

October 2026

A mountain running event in County Down on 3 October 2026 covering 11.90 km with 870 m climb, organised by Mourne Runners as part of the IMRA Ulster Championships and NIMRA League; GPS is not allowed and Level C kit is required.

SkyRun the Mournes features three demanding skyrunning races in the scenic Mourne mountains. Runners can choose from distances of 50 km, 35 km, or 20 km, each with significant elevation gain. The event is scheduled for October 10th, 2026.
