Seven Sisters Skyline
The Seven Sisters Skyline is a mountain running event organised by Excel Sports in County Donegal. The route runs along the spine of the Seven Sisters in the Derryveagh Mountains, stretching between Errigal and Muckish. The course includes steep climbs, rocky summits, technical ridges and fast descents, with elevation gains of up to 4,000m+. The event has featured in the World Mountain Running World Cup 2022 and forms part of the Skyrunning UK & Ireland Series. The organisers typically welcome 500 runners.
Distances
- 55 km : full Skyline, 4,000m+ ascent, six summits.
- 30 km : point to point traverse of the Skyline, technical terrain.
- 16 km : shorter route starting at Altan Track, includes Altan Castle loop.
The 55 km and 30 km races carry UTMB Index status for World Series qualification. Entry fees listed by the organiser are €150 for the 55 km, €140 for the 30 km, and €85 for the 16 km. There is a combined prize purse of €10,000 for the 55 km and 30 km events, with cash prizes for the top five men and top five women in each race. The 55 km event will host the National Series Skyrunning Championships and is associated with a €7,500 prize pool. The event is organised using published outdoor activity event guidelines.
