Trail Running calendar near County Donegal 2026-2027

Join the Union Wood race in County Sligo, a scenic 6 or 8 km trail through gravel paths, single track and a panoramic climb to Union Rock. Enjoy winter league competition, fresh air and a friendly finish with prizes and refreshments.

Lough Talt hosts the North West Winter League on Saturday 7 February 2026 with 9 km and 4.5 km easy trail courses. GPS is banned and Level B mandatory kit is required while parking and prizegiving are at Joe Dan's.

Join Carrowkeel Winter in County Sligo for a challenging 10 km winter trail with about 300 m of climb as part of the North West Winter League. Expect rugged scenery, a friendly crowd and marked routes, and come prepared with Level B kit.

Take on Carnaween, a scenic mountain race in County Donegal offering long and short route options with steep climbs across open farmland. Limited to 61 runners and part of the Ulster Championship, it promises a rugged, rewarding challenge.

Take on the Mullaghcarn Giant on Saturday 25 July 2026, a scenic but testing 12 km mountain race with a summit at Mullaghcarn and around 500 m of ascent. Expect rugged, boggy terrain so trail shoes and mandatory safety kit are required.

The Queen Maeve's will take place in Sligo on Sunday 9 August 2026. You can run 7 kilometers.

A four-day event in Inishowen offering separate daily courses along the Wild Atlantic Way, with options for four full marathons or four half marathons forming a 105-mile loop.

MTC Balor is a 47 mile single-day ultra from Murphys Hotel to Rolling Wave Guesthouse, acting as Day 11 of the MizMal Ireland series. Entry is limited and the route uses preset cut-offs based on a 4 mph minimum.
