Queen Maeve's
Queen Maeve's : Knocknarea, County Sligo
Queen Maeve's is a marked mountain race on Knocknarea in County Sligo held on Sunday 9 August 2026. The main route covers 6.50 km with 340 m of climb and is fully waymarked; GPS use is not permitted.
The course starts and finishes at the main Knocknarea tourist carpark. Runners follow the tourist path initially then take a subsidiary path to the north side, run along a wall for about 200 m, and then climb to the summit cairn. The descent largely retraces the initial climb, with a short final diversion onto the adjacent Rathcarrick trail for the last 200 m to provide a firmer finish surface.

- ~4 km short course to the cairn and back; this is also the junior route
Mandatory kit is Level B standard and must be carried; required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The exact kit to be carried during the race may be finalised at registration depending on conditions. Random checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Prizegiving and refreshments will take place at the finish area by the Knocknarea Hill walk carpark. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
