Event Overview

The MTC Bodach is a 38-mile ultra marathon held on the 19th of May 2027. It forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series and also serves as Day 13, the final day, of the larger fourteen-day MTC MizMal® multi-race event.

The Course

The race begins at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa and concludes at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Most of the route follows the MizMal® cycling route. The total distance is listed as 37.4 miles. Organizers enforce a strict minimum average pace of 4 miles per hour; participants who fall below this pace will be withdrawn from the event.

Race Details

  • Maximum competitors: 40 (20 for standalone Bodach entries, plus 20 for MizMal® participants).
  • The event is cup-free, meaning participants must bring their own reusable cup.
  • Checkpoints offer food items such as malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, and drinks.
  • All finishers receive a bespoke Bodach medal. Male and female champions also receive a unique race trophy.

Entry Information

The standard entry fee is £90.00. An upgraded 'Race Package' for £155.00 includes an embroidered race shirt and a hi-viz jacket, but must be booked at least four weeks prior to the event. A deferral option to the following year is available for a fee of £15.00 until four weeks before race day.

Mandatory Kit

Participants must carry a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, a compass or GPS device, a whistle, a mobile phone, an emergency food pack, and a basic first aid kit. A tracking device with an SOS button is provided by the organizers. Competitors are advised to bring clothing suitable for all weather conditions.
