MTC Bodach - Ultra Running

The MTC Bodach is a point to point ultra race held on a section of the MizMal route. The organiser lists the distance as approximately 37.4 miles and elsewhere as 38 miles. The route starts at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa, F93 C2CF, and finishes at Inishowen Gateway Hotel, F93 PPH9. It is run as Day 13, the final day, of the fourteen day MTC MizMal series.

Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. The event is cup free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Finishers receive a bespoke Bodach medal and male and female champions receive trophies.

The race enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph. Organisers set cut off points along the route based on that minimum and may withdraw competitors who fall below it. Maps and GPX files, plus live tracking, are provided only to entrants; each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS function.

A mandatory kit list is enforced and includes items such as a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Checkpoint food examples include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Entry fees are non refundable; published fees include a standard entry and a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi viz jacket, subject to ordering lead times.
