MTC Bodach : race description

The MTC Bodach is a single day ultramarathon in Ireland that forms Day 13 of the MTC MizMal end to end series. The advertised race distance is 38 miles; route data also shows a total of 37.4 miles with 2,136 ft of ascent and 2,185 ft of descent. The course starts at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa (F93 C2CF) and finishes at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9), with intermediate check points at approximately 9.7 miles, 19 miles and 27.9 miles.

Entry is limited to 20 race entrants plus an additional allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum of 40 participants. All entrants must be aged 20 or over on the start day. Entry fees are shown as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a plus package that includes a race shirt and hi viz jacket when ordered in advance. All deposits and payments are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option and a £15 defer option (deadline four weeks before the event) are available at booking.

The event enforces time restrictions based on a minimum average pace of 4 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are issued to entrants four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with SOS functionality. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
