MTC Bodach

The MTC Bodach is a single day ultra running event published as a 38 mile race and listed as Day 13 of the MTC MizMal, a fourteen day end to end series across Ireland. The route begins at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa and concludes at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Total climb is given as 2,136 ft with 2,185 ft of descent.

Competitor numbers are limited to 20 standard entries plus an allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. Entry options include a standard entry fee and a plus race package that adds an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi viz jacket when purchased at least four weeks before the event. All deposits and payments are non refundable, and optional personal cancellation insurance may be purchased at checkout.

The event operates preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold can be withdrawn. The race is cup free so entrants must bring a reusable cup. Check points provide food such as malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.

Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks prior to the race. Organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS functionality. Mandatory kit includes a backpack or equivalent, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day and must follow organiser instructions and safety requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
