Trail Running calendar near Carrowntober 2026-2027

Join the Union Wood race in County Sligo, a scenic 6 or 8 km trail through gravel paths, single track and a panoramic climb to Union Rock. Enjoy winter league competition, fresh air and a friendly finish with prizes and refreshments.

Lough Talt hosts the North West Winter League on Saturday 7 February 2026 with 9 km and 4.5 km easy trail courses. GPS is banned and Level B mandatory kit is required while parking and prizegiving are at Joe Dan's.

Join Carrowkeel Winter in County Sligo for a challenging 10 km winter trail with about 300 m of climb as part of the North West Winter League. Expect rugged scenery, a friendly crowd and marked routes, and come prepared with Level B kit.

Take on Carnaween, a scenic mountain race in County Donegal offering long and short route options with steep climbs across open farmland. Limited to 61 runners and part of the Ulster Championship, it promises a rugged, rewarding challenge.

The Sliabh Daeane - Ox Mountains will take place in Sligo on Wednesday 3 June 2026. You can run between 6 and 9 kilometers.

New for 2026, the Croagh Patrick Uphill is a sharp mountain race up Ireland's sacred peak, climbing 770 m in about 3.8 km. Part of the Connaught Weekend and Irish Uphill League, it offers a bold challenge for mountain runners.

The Mweelrea will take place in Clooncarrabaun on Saturday 13 June 2026. You can run 11 kilometers.

Tackle the new Bangor Erris Trail in County Mayo, a challenging 34 km with 750 m of climb and limited route markings. Part of the inaugural Connaught Weekend, this wild run requires Level C kit and bans GPS.

The Carrowkeel will take place in Gortalough on Saturday 20 June 2026. You can run 10 kilometers.

The Benbulben (Luke's Bridge) will take place in Grange on Saturday 4 July 2026. You can run between 5 and 9 kilometers.

The Slieve Bawn will take place in Roscommon on Saturday 25 July 2026. You can run between 5 and 8 kilometers.

The Nephin will take place in Lahardaun on Saturday 1 August 2026. You can run 7 kilometers.

The Queen Maeve's will take place in Sligo on Sunday 9 August 2026. You can run 7 kilometers.

MTC Bodach is a 37.4 mile MizMal challenge across scenic Inishowen with coastal views and rolling climbs. Limited entries, navigation, mandatory kit and time cutoffs make this a technical endurance day for prepared runners.
