Trail Running calendar near Lahardaun 2026-2027

A mountain running race on Benbulben in County Sligo with a main 9.0 km course and a 4.5 km short course; about 400 m of ascent on the main route. Registration is at the North Sligo Sports Complex with bus transfers to Luke's Bridge.

August 2026

Nephin is a mountain race in County Mayo with a 7.35 km route and 736 m ascent on a fully waymarked path. Level B kit is mandatory and a short junior out and back course is provided.

An obstacle race in Leenane, County Galway covering about 7 km across Connemara bog with mud pits, gorges, waterfalls, hills and sections in the waters of Killary Fjord.

A marked mountain race on Knocknarea in County Sligo on 9 August 2026, featuring a 6.5 km route with 340 m ascent and an approximate 4 km short course. Level B mandatory kit is required and GPS is not allowed.

Diamond Hill in County Galway on 22 August 2026 offers a fully marked mountain route of 7.10 km and a 2.90 km short course with 440 m of climb. GPS is not allowed and Level B mandatory kit is required.

A 15 kilometre multi-terrain run from Strandhill beachfront to the summit of Knocknarea and back, featuring a six kilometre hill section with a 700 foot climb. The 2026 race is set for Saturday 22 August and is now full.

November 2026

A 30 km section of the Western Way in County Galway on 14 November 2026, with about 710 m ascent. The fully marked route allows GPS and requires Level B mandatory kit; final carrying instructions are given at registration.

May 2027

A single-day ultramarathon of about 52 miles from Clifden to Westport, MTC Gancanagh is Day 9 of the MizMal® series. The field is capped at 40, mandatory kit and 4.0 mph cut-offs apply, with organiser tracking and checkpoint support.

A single day ultra of about 47 miles along the MizMal route from Westport Woods Hotel & Spa to Murphys Hotel, Tobercurry. Entry is limited to 40 runners and cut off points use a minimum average speed of 4 mph.

A new 47 miles single-day ultra following the MizMal® route from Tobercurry to Bundoran, forming Day 11 of the Ireland end-to-end series. Places are limited, tracking with SOS is provided and finishers receive a bespoke Balor medal.
