Western Way - Maam to Leenane

This event follows a section of the Western Way between Maam and Leenane in County Galway on Saturday 14th November 2026. The course length is 30 km with approximately 710 m of ascent. The route is fully marked and GPS use is permitted.

The difficulty is rated 9 with component ratings indicating difficult terrain, more than 500 m total ascent, and a distance over 10 km. The finish is in Leenane and participants meet in Leenane to be transported to the start line.

Participants are required to carry Level B standard kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The exact kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and clearly advised at registration. Participants should also have suitable means to carry the kit. Random checks may be carried out and failure to have the required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
