Trail Running calendar near Florence Court Demesne 2026-2027

A four day marathon and half marathon event along 105 miles of the Inishowen peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. Runners can complete half or full marathon distances over one to four days with a different route each day.

A 15 km road and hill race from the Strandhill beachfront to the top of Knocknarea and back, featuring a steep 700 foot climb over fields and loose gravel. About 1,200 runners take part and finishers receive bespoke medals.

September 2026

A mountain running event on Cuilcagh in County Cavan on 12 September 2026, covering 11.90 km with 870 m climb; only major junctions are marked, GPS is not allowed, and Level B mandatory kit is required.

Glenbarrow in County Laois on 12 September 2026 is a long mountain running event covering 99 km with 999 m of climb. It has limited course marking, no GPS allowed, and a mandatory Level B kit list.

A beach and dune running event at Tullan Strand Beach in Bundoran on 12 September 2026, offering 5 km and 10 km courses. Entry fees include a posted race pack and there is an option to buy a t-shirt.

A two day mountain navigation and endurance event in the Mourne Mountains for teams of two, covering about 35 to 55 km across two days, with a one day score class. Participants camp overnight and are expected to be self sufficient.

Mountain ridge races across the Seven Sisters in Donegal offer 55 km, 30 km and 16 km options with technical terrain, large elevation gains and UTMB Index status for the longer distances.

October 2026

A mountain running event in County Down on 3 October 2026 covering 11.90 km with 870 m climb, organised by Mourne Runners as part of the IMRA Ulster Championships and NIMRA League; GPS is not allowed and Level C kit is required.

SkyRun the Mournes features three demanding skyrunning races in the scenic Mourne mountains. Runners can choose from distances of 50 km, 35 km, or 20 km, each with significant elevation gain. The event is scheduled for October 10th, 2026.

Nav Challenge 4 in the Mourne Mountains takes place in County Dublin on Sunday 18 October 2026. The unmarked course is 99.00 km with 999 m of climb, GPS is not allowed and a Level B mandatory kit is required.

February 2027

Donadea 50k is a 50-kilometre running event in Donadea Forest Park, County Kildare, organised by Donadea Running Club and listed as the 17th edition on 13 February. Updates are posted on the Donadea50k Facebook page.

A 10 km trail race on the Cooley Peninsula with runnable trails, natural terrain and 240 m of elevation. The certified course uses chip timing and offers a finisher medal, on-site parking and a bag drop at McCrystals Track in Jenkinstown.

April 2027

A 20 mile coastal trail run from Portrush along the Causeway Coast Way that passes the Giant's Causeway and runs through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surfaces include grass, trail, beach and coastpath with about 2276 ft of ascent.

May 2027

A new 47 miles single-day ultra following the MizMal® route from Tobercurry to Bundoran, forming Day 11 of the Ireland end-to-end series. Places are limited, tracking with SOS is provided and finishers receive a bespoke Balor medal.

A point to point ultra of about 37.4 miles on the MizMal route from Villa Rose Hotel to Inishowen Gateway Hotel, held as day 13 of the 14-day MizMal series. Entry is capped, mandatory kit and a 4.0 mph minimum pace are enforced.

July 2027

A summer running festival at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens on 25 July 2027 offering 10K and Half Marathon routes, chip timing, kilometre markers, a themed medal and free race photos in support of Northern Ireland Hospice.
