Hillsborough Castle & Gardens Running Festival

The Hillsborough Castle & Gardens Running Festival takes place on 26 July 2026 within the grounds of Hillsborough Castle. The event supports Action Mental Health, a local charity based in Northern Ireland.

Races start inside the castle grounds and run through surrounding forest areas, passing local attractions such as Hillsborough Fort and Hillsborough Lake. The half marathon and 10k then use Ballynahinch Road before returning to the castle grounds to finish in the event village. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals are placed along the course to guide and encourage runners. There is a strict three hour cut off for the half marathon due to road closures.

Included with entry are a unique themed medal, free race photos, chip timed results, and post race goodies. An event village offers food and drink options and partner giveaways. The organiser notes an emphasis on course marking, marshal support, and measures relating to event sustainability. A discounted event t shirt is available to purchase as part of the entry package.
