The Bog Run 2026 : event overview
The Bog Run 2026 is the tenth and final edition of an annual fundraising mud run held in Castlewellan Forest Park, Co. Down on 11/10/2026. The event is organised to raise funds for support services for children and young people affected by cancer across the island of Ireland.
The main course is a 5 km off- and on-path route that includes crawling through bushes, climbing over trees and wading through mud pits. The senior route includes a short lake section where water can reach waist height. The junior route follows the same course but omits the lake and some mud pits.
Participation categories and age rules:
- Senior Bog Run - 5 km, open to ages 12 and over (ages 12–17 must be accompanied by an adult)
- Junior Bog Run - 5 km modified route, open to ages 8–14 with an accompanying adult (maximum two children per adult)
Registration details state varying costs and minimum sponsorship levels, online registration closing on Thursday 8th October or earlier if sold out, and that on-the-day registration will not be accepted. The event emphasises fundraising; participants who meet their sponsorship target by Monday 12th October are entered into a prize draw.
On-site facilities and provisions include shower facilities, bag drop, changing tents, post-event snacks and a medal for registered participants. There will also be prizes for best dressed and biggest team, event T-shirts for supporters, face painting and additional activities. Parking is available on site for a charge.
