Trail Running calendar near Grizedale 2026-2027

Lakeland LDWA's That's Lyth challenge returns on 31 January 2027; entries open 1 October for members and 1 December for non-members.

A winter trail ultra around Pendle in the South Pennines, starting and finishing at Barley Village Hall. Two waymarked route options are offered, approximately 45 miles and 30 miles, open to both runners and walkers.

Test your endurance at the Wadsworth Trog fell race in the South and West Pennines. This 31 km event features over 1100 meters of climbing and requires navigation skills for participants traversing the Hebden Bridge landscape.

Flat, waterside races along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal offering distances from 10K to ultra marathon, Trail Running Association licensed and supported with feed stations and a sweet-filled finish.

A scenic trail event around Harrogate and Knaresborough with 14.3, 20.3 and 34.3 mile routes that pass through Nidd Gorge and include staffed checkpoints and tracker support.

Road races in and around Cockermouth offering a half marathon and a 10km through the Lorton Valley with chip-timing, medals and event merchandise. The event supports Blood Bikes Cumbria.

Trail marathon and half marathon at Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre with varied terrain, scenic lake views, compulsory kit and age minimum 16.

Marked, chip timed trail event at Whinlatter with 10k and 5k options and allowance for two dogs or dogless runners.

A flat trail event on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal with multiple distances, marshals and drink stations. Canal side facilities are provided and finishers receive a bespoke medal and treats.

A winter trail race from Rawdon Cricket Club of about 14 km with two ascents of The Billing and a lap by Leeds Bradford Airport; fully marked course, bring trail shoes.

A long distance challenge walk across Rivington, Anglezarke and Turton Moors offering 17 or 24 mile routes with staffed checkpoints and required winter kit.

A chip-timed series of canal-side trail races near Bingley offering six distances from 5 km to marathon on a flat, towpath route with marshals, aid stations and TRA licensing.

A 50 miles LDWA challenge around north Leeds on two loops, visiting Temple Newsam, Meanwood Valley and Harewood Estate with a 22 hour time limit.

50 mile trail ultramarathon around Chester with 849 m ascent, seven checkpoints, mandatory kit and a 17 hour cut-off.

Trail runs at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden on 28 February 2027 offer 5km, 10km and half marathon distances with live chip timing. Canicross is allowed and finishers receive a medal, merchandise, snack and drink.

A fully tracked 30 mile trail event in Morland near Penrith on 6 March 2027, with mixed off road terrain, about 3000 ft of ascent and four checkpoints. Walkers are welcome and a 12 hour time limit is provided.

Experience a classic 15 km fell race through the South West Pennines. Starting from Barley Village Hall, this event features 545 meters of ascent and requires navigation skills for all participants.

A moorland trail event around Saddleworth offering 26 km, 43 km and 62 km routes that visit reservoirs and rough moorland. Entry fees include refreshments, tracking, medical cover and a post event meal.

Nighttime trail runs at Kielder Waterside under gold tier dark skies, organised by Trail Outlaws with multiple distances and entry fees from £25 to £70.

A women-only 6 km trail event at Big G’s Gym in Edgworth on 6 March 2027 with official timing, marshals and a GPX route file. All profits support PSPA and Scallywags Pre-school.
