North Lakes Half Marathon & 10km - Market Place, Cockermouth

The North Lakes event offers two road race distances that start and finish near Cockermouth Town Centre and run through the quiet country lanes of the Lorton Valley with views across the Lake District. Organisers are Wild Deer Events in collaboration with Events Up North and Timing Up North.

Live chip-timing will be provided by Timing Up North. There is no cut-off time for the event. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An event T-shirt is available to purchase for £12 with entry.

Parking is available in Cockermouth Town Centre within walking distance of the start. The event supports Blood Bikes Cumbria, a volunteer service that provides out-of-hours medical courier support for urgently needed blood products, samples, breast milk and other medical items.

Accommodation options are noted near the start location, and some local accommodation allows event parking for guests. Trail runs nearby

A 10 km urban trail through central Carlisle on 06 May 2026 that passes Carlisle Cathedral, Millennium Bridge and Carlisle Castle. Entry is limited to 300 runners aged 15 and over with overall and age group prizes.

Tackle a classic Lake District fell race from Dockray to Hartside on Wed 6 May 2026, covering 10 km with a stiff 800 m of climb. Entry on the day is £5 with parking at the quarry car park. Expect a tough scenic course and friendly vibes.

A fully way marked 47 mile trail around Lake Windermere, open to runners and walkers with 24 hours to complete. The route has GPS support, five aid stations, a halfway bag drop, a finishers meal and a locally sourced medal.

Canicross at Dodd Wood on 9 May 2026 with two marked, chip timed loops and views over Bassenthwaite Lake. Choose an 8K route with 370 m ascent or a 5K route with 210 m ascent; two dogs per runner are allowed on wide sections.
