Event overview

The North Lakes Half Marathon & 10km takes place on Sunday 8 February 2026 in Cockermouth, using road routes through the Lorton Valley and country lanes with views across the Lake District. The event starts and finishes near Cockermouth Town Centre. Live chip-timing will be provided by Timing Up North. There is no cut-off time. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink.

Logistics and entry

Routes are mapped for both distances. An event T-shirt is available for purchase for £12. Parking is available in Cockermouth Town Centre, with a free shuttle bus to and from the venue. Accommodation is offered at Graysonside Guest House on Saturday 7 February 2026; guests may park there for the whole event. Registration opens 10 February 2025 and closes 4 February 2026. Entry prices listed are £28.00 + fee for the half marathon and £25.00 + fee for the 10 km. Remaining places shown are 622 for the half marathon and 230 for the 10 km. Take on a classic Lake District fell around Latrigg on a flagged 8 km / 5 miles course with 460 m of climb and stunning views. Starts and finishes at Fitz Park Pavilion, Keswick, and pre entry via SiEntries is required.

Take on Orrest Sun Up in Windermere on Sun 21 Dec 2025, a bracing one mile climb to Orrest Head with stunning Lake District views. Entry on the day from The Phoenix Centre is £5 with donations supporting local community charities.

Take on the classic Wansfell fell race in Ambleside on 27 December 2025, a scenic out and back to the rocky summit. Expect steep stone steps, open fell running and a warm finish at Force Cafe, with pre entry and mandatory kit required.

Run through Whinlatter Forest on scenic, well marked trails with 5 km or 10 km options and dogs are welcome. Chip timing and downloadable GPS files make for a relaxed, family friendly race day.
