That's Lyth

That's Lyth is a winter walk and run that starts from Abbot Hall Social Centre in Kendal and follows a route encircling the Lyth Valley. The route passes Cunswick Fell, Whitbarrow Scar and Scout Scar and is described as scenic. The published distance is 23 miles with 3,200 ft of ascent. There is a checkpoint at Levens with a cut off in place.

Entrants must carry or wear, as appropriate, a route description, maps (OS Outdoor Leisure 7 English Lakes SE or OS 1:50,000 Sheet 97), a compass, a whistle, a survival bag, a first aid kit, emergency food and drink, spare warm clothing, waterproof and windproof upper clothing and trousers, and footwear suitable for rough walking in winter conditions. Participants are asked to bring a mug. Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept under close control by their owner at all times.

Safety procedures require checking in at all checkpoints, retiring only at checkpoints, and reporting to the finish whether an entrant completes the route or retires. Event marshals may short route or retire anyone who does not comply with the rules or who is judged unfit to continue.

Entries open and close on specified dates. Entry fees differ for LDWA members and non members, and the organiser runs a waiting list when the event is full. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
