Course and logistics

The circular, waymarked route starts from meadows north of Muker and follows Hartlakes valley to Kisdon Force. It then uses the Coast to Coast path to Ravenseat, crosses open moorland to the Tan Hill Inn, and returns largely via the Pennine Way. The route includes the climb of Swinner Gill, a descent down Gunnerside Gill to Ivelet, and a finish near Rampsholme footbridge. Surfaces include grassy trods, slabbed sections, hard-packed footpath, shooting tracks and short road sections. Trail shoes are recommended.

Aid stations are fully stocked with water, sports drink, sweet and savoury items and some electrolyte drinks; no single-use plastic cups are provided. Runners receive a post-race hot drink, vegetable soup and a roll. Mandatory kit is required and may be spot-checked; required items include waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy, a cup or soft flask, at least 500 ml water and a charged mobile phone. Critical turns and road crossings will be marshalled and the course will be marked with tape and flags. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
