AFoot in Two Dales is a 50-mile / 5,500 ft circuit across Wensleydale and Swaledale on Saturday 18 to Sunday 19 July 2026. The route uses footpaths, bridleways and quiet roads and includes an ascent of Great Shunner Fell. The route must be completed within 22 hours. The course starts and finishes at Harmby Village Hall, Leyburn, where free parking, showers and changing facilities are available.

Route and checkpoints

The planned route runs: Harmby - Redmire - Haverdale - Muker - Great Shunner Fell - Hawes - Bainbridge - Thoralby - West Witton - Harmby. A simple route description and GPX file are available to download on the event web page. Navigational skills are required for night-time walking over open moorland.

Entry, equipment and services

Entries are through SiEntries only; no paper or on-the-day entries. Entry is limited to 250 participants. The event is for over 18s; dogs are not allowed. An early-bird fee applies until the end of January 2026, with higher fees thereafter. Entry includes tea and toast at registration, refreshments at checkpoints, a hot meal partway, a finish meal and a finisher certificate.

Electronic trackers will be used; the device is small and lightweight and must be carried in the top pocket of a rucksack or bum bag. There is a charge for lost or damaged trackers. Suggested kit includes suitable footwear, waterproofs, spare fleece, compass, whistle, torch with spare batteries, emergency survival/bivvy bag, drinks and food.
