Eshton Moor (formerly Gargrave Cross Country)

Eshton Moor is a five mile race with approximately 550 ft of ascent, held on 6 August 2026. The course is an out and back route that largely follows the track of the Pennine Way to the woods near Calton. It runs over undulating fields and includes a gentle climb up a long field before joining the Pennine Way, a section across Eshton Moor, a descent and river crossing, then a loop around the wood before returning the same way with the climb back over Eshton Moor.

The event is organised with races for junior age groups U9, U12, U14 and U17, plus a senior race. Entry fees are listed as £2 for juniors and £5 for seniors. Perpetual trophies are awarded at this race to members of Wharfedale Harriers. Past records recorded for the course include a men's best time of 31:05 (2018) and a ladies best time of 35:44 (2023).

The race assembly is at Old Hall Farm, Gargrave, North Yorkshire BD23 3UT. Approaching Gargrave from Skipton, turn right at the Old Swan pub, follow the road and turn right at the car park, cross the canal bridge and continue along Mark House Lane. Parking is available on the road or by turning into the farm track and using the field on the left where the race starts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
