Eshton Moor (formerly Gargrave Cross Country)
Eshton Moor is a cross-country race held in Gargrave, North Yorkshire. The course is listed as 5 Mile with around 550 ft of ascent. The event is run on an out-and-back route over undulating fields and uses part of the Pennine Way.
The route begins with a gentle climb up a long field before joining the Pennine Way. It continues over Eshton Moor, descends and crosses a river, then runs around a wood near Calton. Competitors return along the same line and regain Eshton Moor on the way back.
Races include junior categories (U9, U12, U14, U17) and a senior race. Entry fees listed are Juniors £2 and Seniors £5. Several perpetual trophies are presented to members of Wharfedale Harriers at this event. Course records are noted as men's 31:05 (2018) and women's 35:44 (2023).
The event base is Old Hall Farm, Gargrave, BD23 3UT. Approaching Gargrave from Skipton, follow the road past the Old Swan pub and over the canal bridge to Mark House Lane. There is a high wall on the left and a farm track on the right; parking is available on the road or in the field on the left via the track, where the race starts.
