Ingleborough Mountain Race

The Ingleborough Mountain Race is a Yorkshire Dales classic fell race, category AM, held as part of Ingleton's annual Gala day. The course covers 11 km / 6.8 mi with 600 m / 1968 ft of ascent.

Registration takes place inside Ingleton Community Centre next to the Gala field where race numbers are collected. Entries are accepted online or on the day if the race limit of 250 has not been reached. Entry fees are non-refundable. The event has a minimum age of 18 on the event date.

The route starts on the sports field adjacent to Ingleton Community Centre (grid ref. 695730), passes through the village main street, turns left onto the Hawes road, then after about 400 metres turns right onto the public footpath up Ingleborough. The race follows that path to the summit (grid ref. 742745) and returns to the village by the same route, re-entering the field from the Back Gate car park. Because the route uses a public footpath, competitors may recce the course beforehand and choose preferred lines.

The race forms part of the Yorkshire Dales Classics Race Series; individual races can be entered separately or together as a series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
