Ingleborough Mountain Race

The Ingleborough Mountain Race takes place in Ingleton as part of the village Gala day on Saturday 18 July 2026. The event starts on the sports field next to Ingleton Community Centre (Grid Ref. 695730), passes through the main street, turns left onto the Hawes road, then after 400 metres turns right onto the public footpath up Ingleborough. The route follows this path to the summit (Grid Ref. 742745) and returns to the village by the same line, re-entering the field from the Back Gate car park. Because the course follows a public footpath, competitors may walk or inspect the route before the race.

The course distance is 11 km with about 600 m of ascent (1968 ft). Minimum age for entry is 18 years. The race is run under FRA rules. Runners must observe the FRA principles and requirements and carry the mandatory minimum kit which includes waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, waterproof overtrousers with taped seams, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. There will be a kit check at registration. Organisers may change kit requirements for the conditions on the day, and runners are advised to carry water.

Entries are open via SI Entries with fees of £12 for FRA members and £15 for non members; entry on the day is £15 if the race limit has not been reached. Registration and number collection are at Ingleton Community Centre next to the Gala field. Parking is available at the Community Centre car park for a charge and there are several free car parks elsewhere in Ingleton. Prize giving will take place on the Gala field. Toilets are available in the car park and local accommodation options include campsites, a YHA and bed and breakfast venues. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
