CBTE Morland 'Marathon'

The CBTE Morland 'Marathon' is a trail ultra event held in the Eden Valley. Participants follow a 29 mile (approximately 30 mile) route that is largely off-road and composed of mixed terrain. The course features 3000 ft of total elevation and passes through the countryside near the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The route begins and ends at Morland Village Hall. Along the way, the path stays close to the Pennines to the East and the Howgills to the South. Participants pass through historic villages and natural landmarks, including stone circles, waterfalls, cairns, and meadows. The course also traverses lower lying fells and undulating meadows.

The event is open to both runners and walkers. Participants can choose to enter as solo individuals or as part of a relay team. All entrants are monitored via a tracking system throughout the duration of the event. There is a maximum time limit of 12 hours to complete the distance.

Available distances:

  • 29 mile solo trail ultra
  • 29 mile relay team ultra

The registration fee includes the tracking service, a finishers medal, and support at four checkpoints located along the route, which provide water and snacks. Trophies are awarded to top finishers in various categories, including open gender classifications and age-based groups from V50 to V70. The minimum age for participation is 20 years old.
