Morland 'Marathon' : 30 miles trail event

The Morland 'Marathon' is a 30 mile trail ultra held on Saturday 6th March 2027 in Morland near Penrith. The route is fully tracked and largely off-road, with mixed terrain and about 3000 ft of cumulative ascent. The course runs through the Eden Valley and along the edges of the Pennines and the Howgills, passing stone circles, waterfalls, lower fells, cairns, rivers, meadows, and historic villages.

Four staffed checkpoints provide water and snacks. The event allows runners and walkers and provides tail runners to support completion within a 12 hour cut off. First aid and event insurance are in place. The event start and finish are at Morland Village Hall CA10 3AS and parking is available.

Entry options include a standard solo entry, an affiliated rate, and a relay entry. Finishers receive a medal; a commemorative tee is available for purchase. The organiser offers an option to plant a tree with Trees Not Tees. Entrants must be over 20 years old on race day. Dogs may run but must be on a lead where livestock are present and kept short at the start. Support runners are permitted but must be self sufficient. A 10.5 km fell race to the summit of Whernside with 468 m of ascent, starting near Ribblehead Viaduct and finishing by The Station Inn in Ribblehead. The race follows FRA rules and requires mandatory safety kit and an age minimum of 18.

A multi-distance event along the historic Patterdale parish boundary, from a 28 mile, 10,200 ft full route to a family 10km downhill challenge, with trackers, marked route, checkpoint provisions and waterproof maps available.

An upland trail race from Muker to Tan Hill covering about 31.7 km with nearly 3,000 ft of ascent. The route follows Coast to Coast and Pennine Way sections, includes staffed aid stations, mandatory kit checks and a 200 runner limit.
