CBTE Morland 'Marathon'

The CBTE Morland 'Marathon' is a trail ultra event held in the Eden Valley. Participants follow a route of 29.7 miles with a total elevation gain of 3000 ft. The event is open to both runners and walkers and has a minimum age requirement of 20 years.

The course starts and finishes at Morland Village Hall and consists of mixed terrain that is largely off-road. The route travels through the countryside between the Pennines to the East and the Howgills to the South, passing through the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Features along the path include stone circles, waterfalls, lower lying fells, cairns, and meadows.

Participants can enter as solo athletes or as part of a relay team. The event features four organized checkpoints:

  • Solo
  • Relay

The checkpoints are located at approximately mile 8, mile 15.7, mile 20, and mile 27. These stations provide various refreshments such as water, squash, fizzy drinks, and snacks including vegan and gluten-free options like brownies, flapjacks, sausage rolls, and fruit.

All participants are tracked via Open Tracking during the event. The entry fee includes the tracking service, a finishers medal, and access to the checkpoint provisions. Trophies are awarded across several categories, including first finishers for male, female, non-binary, and relay teams, as well as age category awards for V50, V60, and V70 participants.
