The Maverick Lakes X-Trail 2026

The Maverick Lakes X-Trail is a one-day trail running event on 19 September 2026 at Grasmere Lakeland Sports & Shows, Stock Lane, Grasmere, Ambleside (LA22 9SL). The event is organised by Maverick Race and uses trails around Grasmere and Greater Langdale. Routes start in Grasmere and include climbs towards Easdale Tarn and Stickle Tarn, sections along the Cumbria Way, passages by Loughrigg Tarn, and a final climb to Rydal Head and the Fairfield Horseshoe before a descent back to the venue. The event supports Fix the Fells with a £1 donation from each entry.

Online entry closes on 15 September 2026; on-the-day entries may be available if the event is not sold out. Outposts: none on Middle and Short; two on Half; three on Marathon; four on 50k Ultra. The organisers aim to be plastic-free and ask runners to bring a reusable cup or bottle.

Mandatory kit varies by route. For the 50k Ultra and Marathon this includes waterproof jacket and trousers, extra layers, headtorch and spare batteries, mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water, 800 calories, foil blanket, self-adhesive bandage, hat or buff, gloves and a GPX of the route.
