The Maverick Lakes X-Trail 2026 is a one-day trail running event on 19 September 2026 in Grasmere, Lake District. The event is organised by Maverick Race and is based at Grasmere Lakeland Sports & Show, Stock Lane, Grasmere, Ambleside, LA22 9SL. The event donates £1 from every entry to Fix the Fells.

The route descriptions note climbs to Easdale Tarn and Stickle Tarn, sections on the Cumbria Way, passages toward Greater Langdale and Loughrigg Tarn, and a final climb to Rydal Head and the Fairfield Horseshoe. Trails include steep rocky climbs and technical descents. The Short route has no outpost.

Support, safety and kit

Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; water is self-serve from barrels and runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Cut-off points apply to the 50k Ultra and Marathon for safety. Mandatory kit for the 50k Ultra and Marathon includes waterproof jacket and trousers, additional long sleeve top, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, minimum 1 litre of water, self adhesive bandage, foil blanket, hat or buff, gloves, headtorch with spare batteries, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route.
